Tell him to get his bags packed, we’re picking him up on route to France whether he likes it or not.

If we are sure we can land him eventually I would hope we start the season with Bain in goal rather than go for a second choice we haven’t put much research into. Like you said with the defence and confidence, I’m sure they’ll prefer to play in front of/with Bain rather than a new keeper who doesn’t know the team. I think (If we are confident he’s coming eventually) we can afford to wait it out for Forster. Our 10 outfield players should be able to cope with the first few CL qualifiers, and it’s still a month away until the start of the league. Forster won’t need the settling in process when he comes too

Why would we give him an ultimatum? We need to be diplomatic when it comes to such a crucial position. We can still scout keepers while Fraser is thinking things over.

Celtic have been given fresh hope in their fight to re-sign Fraser Forster – with Chelsea set to focus on Jan Oblak.

The former Celtic loanee is on a shortlist of keepers that Frank Lampard is looking at this summer.

Top of that list, however, is Atletico Madrid’s No.1 Oblak.

The Slovenian international however has a £120 million buy-out clause but the Blues hope the pressures of COVID-19 could help drive down a deal, with current keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga also being thrown into the mix.

Celtic have made Forster their top target since his loan deal expired last month.

The Hoops had an agreement to extend it for another season but the former England star has made it clear that he wants his next move to be permanent.

Forster still has two years left on his contract at Southampton and Celtic are weighing up the value of a permanent deal.

It remains to be seen if the 32-year-old will change his mind on a loan for a regular diet of first-team football.

The big keeper has also been told the door hasn’t been closed on him at Southampton either, despite the club already having Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn

Neil Lennon currently has Scott Bain and back-up in youngsters Connor Hazard and Ross Doohan, who is set to go to Ross County on-loan.

The Celtic boss ideally would like to run with three keepers and it might be another is signed and that would give Forster more time.

Scotland keeper David Marshall is currently at Wigan and he is high on Celtic’s wanted list of goalkeepers, having previously been at the club and worked with Stevie Woods at international level.

Ex-England keeper Joe Hart is another on their list while AEK Athen’s Greek keeper Vasilios Barkas has also been linked.

Give it another week and then call it a day.

If this deal doesn't come off and then we're scrambling about trying to find a goalie who then needs bled into the squad it could well go pear shaped.

And shouldn't this be in ex-players now?

Not saying the attitude of get it done now or don't is wrong. Is it a normal process for scouting new players? Surely we'd keep as many options open as possible in the sense if it's easy for a player to ask us what we have to offer then decide on someone else we can do the same?

NEIL LENNON last night warned Fraser Forster he’s running out of time to sign for Celtic.

Lenny is gutted Forster changed his mind over a deal and decided to fight for his £92,000-a-week place at Southampton.

The Hoops boss insists he’d still love to sign the ex-England No 1.

But asked if negotiations were over, he said: “From what I gather, yeah. There’s no more movement on it at the minute. We can’t keep leaving the door open.

“We have to make decisions. If it was to reverse tomorrow we’d go yeah, on you come, but we’re not getting any indication of that happening.

“We’re talking to representatives of a couple of goalkeepers so hopefully we’ll have good news sooner rather than later on that.

“We’re disappointed with the Fraser issue. It’s kind of bizarre the way it’s panned out.

“The impression we got was that he wanted to stay at Southampton and fight for his place, which is the player’s prerogative.

“But we had been led to believe something else.”

Lennon also insists Celtic didn’t blunder by letting Craig Gordon go — vowing he doesn’t regret allowing the Scotland keeper to join Hearts.

He added: “Craig made a decision. It wasn’t because of finances, he wanted to play more football and that was something we couldn’t guarantee him here.

“We still wanted to have him around because he was a great professional but the reason we made that decision was for his benefit.”

Celts face Lyon in France in their second pre-season friendly, with Lenny planning to rotate his squad.

He added: “The team that we changed after an hour against Nice will play 60 minutes against Lyon and the team that started will play 30 minutes.

“We have another game in Paris on Tuesday. Lyon have a big Champions League tie coming up against Juventus and it’s going to be very difficult.

“For us, it’s all about getting our preparations done for our own season and making sure the players have played enough football.”

Lennon also urged his players to get used to playing in empty stadiums.

He added: “It was very different to what we are used to because Celtic have a huge support — home or away.

“It is the new norm but hopefully only for the short term.

“Psychologically it’s something the players will have to get used to. But I didn’t see any ill effects or negativity surrounding it against Nice.

“I think the players were very happy and enthusiastic to play. But it’s something I will be monitoring because I’ve watched a lot of games behind closed doors.

“The first league back was Germany and there were some strange results.

“Even in the English Premier League some games seem surreal because we are so used to passionate crowds — and Celtic is no different.

“But hopefully we can use this experience in France and it’ll benefit the players when we return. We are really happy to be here. The stadium is fantastic and the quality of opposition is really good for our preparations for the new season.

“Both Lyon and PSG have huge games coming up soon and we will give them really good preparation.

“For us, we have Champions League qualifiers and it’s fantastic to have these games. Hopefully Lyon, PSG and ourselves will all benefit from these games.

“I watched PSG beat Le Havre 9-0 so that will be very difficult.”

Just hope it's not Joe Hart
