He knows he's guaranteed game time here, knows the club/Glasgow, will get European football and will want to win more trophies. He's experienced the EPL. He's experienced what it's like to be a keeper at club that just wants to stay in the EPL every year.

He'll stay if he's offered a deal imo.

Why would he take a drop in money at his age?

The most we could offer him is what, 30k?

I really don't see him taking 35k a week pay cut with three years remaining. Thats a loss of 5m pounds for him.

We could perhaps take him on a two year loan at half his wages and then buy him in his final year at which point he'd take a pay cut probably

Wages would be a stumbling point..

He’s already said he’d love to make it permanent. Don’t know the details of his contract, for one, we don’t know if that’s his wage when he’s not actually playing football.

    If Transfermarkt stats are correct;

Ter Stegen - 10 saved from 39 faced.
Boruc - 15 saved from 60, only 5 saved for Celtic from 19.

Forster - 11 from 31 faced total but 7 from 16 at Celtic. Statistically the best by miles.

His contract will be the same whether he plays or not.. He was in the England squad it won't be based on appearances..

People are naive if they think he'll take a big drop in cash..

Anyway am away for a dip in the sea.. :50:

I knew Forster was * good at it but didn’t know it was to that extent. That’s phenomenal.

Ter Stegen’s one I must have been watching most of they ten penalty saves cos I can’t remember seeing him beat by one :56:

I think its a fair point to make though regarding Forster's ambitions.

At 31, does he want to return to Southampton reserves next season or a Championship club and earn 40-65k a week for the next three seasons playing mediocre matches and then further depreciation in wages/club as he gets older.

Or does he want to sign for Celtic on 30k and play another 4 seasons or so at No.1 with old firm and champions league nights.

He's already rich and he's won medals and international caps. It's a question of what his career goals are now.

Easy, buy him cheap with a big bonus of £3m for him. Then usual small wages. Doesnt loose too much and gets to play.

Bit rusty as expected and was unsure about bringing him back....but he definitely looks am upgrade on what we've had..

Massive presence back in the box again. Gonna win us a good few points I think..

You are correct and incorrect with this comment. Whilst it will always be considered a bonus to save a penalty, you cannot possibly suggest all keepers are created equal when it comes to saving them. I think it's safe to say that Forster is a far far better goalkeeper at saving penalties.

Still not a stick to beat him with. If the penalty taker missed the goals is that credited to the keeper?

Stick to beat him with has * connotations but it definitely is a criticism you can level at Gordon. He's * at saving penalties, Forster is good.

I have no idea if their stats take into account missing the goal or if they're even 100% correct but they seem legit to me based purely on just watching Celtic games. Forster has much bigger presence and actually attempts to get to the ball, CG appears beaten as soon as the pen is awarded.

Isn’t one of Gordon’s “saved” penalties actually one where the guy hit wide or has that already been accounted for

Was Craig a great penalty saver when we got him, or wasn’t it such a big thing then?

By the way I’m ecstatic to have FF back, even with his faults as well.
