    Would sell for 10M.

    I love Forster, though.

So we're willing to sell him for €10 million?! Lennon's nose is going to be bigger than Ibrahimovic's with all these lies he's saying in press conferences!

If he goes then I am convinced we have an astronomical amount of hidden debt. There is absolutely no need for this ridiculous fire sale.

Wanyama was bad enough, the sale of Hooper was pushing it a bit, selling Wilson turned into a pisstake, if Forster goes then its just unexplainable. Unless we go on a £50 million spending spree - which we won't.

Benfica would be a sidewards move for Forster. Wouldn't sell him this summer. Not at all.

It's only unexplainable if you're extremely ignorant of our transfer policy.

What * transfer policy? We're selling our best players and not replacing them. As much as people wish we were a Dortmund or a Porto, we're not.

Cue: Boerrigter, Mouyokolo, Balde - No! They ain't replacements! Neither of them will fulfil the roles of Hooper or Wanyama. Balde, as stated by Lennon, is "raw". Mouyokolo was released by a Championship side for a reason.

Seems like their fans really want him on Benfica's forum:smiley-laughing002:, but they don't think they'll get him.

Saw this on there as well:

According to Maisfutebol, Benfica is even interested: Benfica intends to hire a goalkeeper, and this time the main goal is Fraser Forster, Celtic. The talks with the Scottish emblem already taking place, but do not seem all easy. Maisfutebol When that cleared, Jorge Jesus asked a goalkeeper to compete Arthur, somewhat similar to what happened with Eduardo in 2011/12. Between late July and early August were put several names on the table, including Brazilians, but at this stage the priority is to Forster, 25, and negotiations have progressed in recent days. native of Hexham, the goalkeeper signed by Newcastle in the final phase of the training course, but in six years could never play for the first team. He went on loan to Stockport, Bristol and then to Norwich, where he caught the eye. In August 2010 he moved to Celtic. In the first two seasons was borrowed, but a year ago the Scottish club advanced to purchase the pass for approximately two million pounds (about two and a half million euros). Forster this time is estimated at four million euros (according the prestigious' Transfermarkt "), but negotiations between Benfica and Celtic will be slightly above it (between six and seven million euros), of which one must take into account competition from English clubs. aware of Celtic that this may be an opportunity to make a good deal, but hesitates to give up one of the figures of the team. Forster has attracted the attention of several clubs in the country, taking into account the beautiful views that have initialed the service of Celtic, including the Champions League, proves that played against Benfica last season (remember that the Scottish emblem passed the group stage and Benfica did not). The two views against Barcelona mainly deserved accolades. The keeper was the last time, called several times to check, though they have not yet premiered. Maisfutebol At that found no other name in the table, and of course those in charge of Benfica has also developed contacts for possible contracting this keeper, but the priority is Fraser Forster. A goal that will not, however, anything but easy, as mentioned above.

    Translated, of course:icon_mrgreen:

The transfer policy is well documented and has been clear for years. I'm surprised you haven't heard. We buy young players with potential from inexpensive markets with the intention of selling them on at a profit. We received a record transfer offer for Wanyama - that type of offer cannot be refused by any scottish club. We sold Gary for £5 million because he was in the last year of his deal and had intimated that he would not be extending his deal. It would have made no sense to have let an unhappy player run down his contract and leave for nothing. Similar story with Wilson. He wanted to return to Nottingham and the club received a decent bid (considering we signed him on a free). You also must know that the club is actively pursuing several targets and signings will certainly be made before the end of the window.

If we keep up this * of selling all our best players and taking forever to replace them if at all - Lennon will definitely be gone next summer. He wont stand for that * and he will get offers from England.

I can see him being gone by January if we continue in this fashion. Plenty English teams will be happy to take him.

But we must remember: IT'S A POLICY!!!! Aye, right you are. Sell our best players and don't replace them.

No, Lennon isn't going to spit the dummy out and jump ship because unlike you, he has some grasp of the situation the club is in and what we're trying to achieve.

I'm pretty sure he would/will. He's stated numerous times he'd like to manage in the English Premiership - there is absolutely no way he will ever do that if Celtic continue to sell like this.

Right now we are in a horrific downwards spiral. We are one player away from selling the spine of our team.. And guess what a bid has already been launched a for him.

Great policy though, Lawwell! Yeah! Why don't we sell Parkhead and replace it with park football pitch? We'll make a profit. All about selling big and buying cheap!

Woo. We're just like Dortmund! Woo. Except.. They sold Gotze for £30 million and re-invested £45 million! Ooo, more like Doncaster then!

What is this 'transfer policy' anyway? Build a stellar team then sell it on every three years and start at square one again?

You're not making a lot of sense here. You can't compare us to Dortmund, their revenue is double what ours is. We have sold 3 excellent players and the circumstances dictated that all 3 deals were a no brainer. They will be replaced. You're complaining about something you clearly don't understand.

A lot of Celtic fans seem to have a fantasy that Celtic have the same model as Dortmund, Porto and Ajax, when we don't. That's why I brought Dortmund into it.

It doesn't matter about how much more revenue they get - they're still reinvesting heavily. We're not. We're spending coppers in comparison to how much we're bringing in.

This selling on for big money has only existed for two years with Celtic. Before Ki McGeady was the only player to be sold on for big bucks.

There is no point in building a team and then dismantling it every couple of years. As I said in another thread, "It's like killing a child as soon as it is born" - that's what a writer said about teams in the making that have been dismantled similar to Celtic's.

Broadly speaking it is the same model though. The only difference is that they have much more money to play with than we do and much greater margin for error. The fact is that without either champions league football or player sales, the club makes heavy losses season on season so it's about safe guarding the club to ensure that we can thrive even if we fail to make the knockout stages. This is just plain and sensible management. Money will be re-invested if you have some patience. Yes it is unfortunate that the talented players identified by the scouts will eventually in all likelihood be sold on but it's surely better than the alternative.

This is what happens when you play in a league with ZERO competition, we could sell Forster, not sign another player and still win the league by 15 points.
