    Couldn’t see a bright spark being paid about £80,000 a year put a presentation to Celtic telling them it’s in best interest to get out of the hoops for a while. 1: They haven’t done their homework on how iconic the strip is. 2: There would be a public meltdown. 3: Lawell wouldn’t have finished the telephone conversation.

    PL: Hi Julian, have ye got a new design for us.
    N: Yes Peter and it’s so inspired. We were thinking Polka Dots.
    PL: * Polka Dots.
    N: Yes definitely a green but in different sizes, we were going to call it “The Mint Aero.”
    PL: Julian you can get to * ya dafty. I may no be giving them money for players but no hoops, No Super Pete. I like my plums.

    On appearance this hoops by Nike looks good. But it was paper thin, neck didn’t sit right or feel right and it felt like a cheap effort with no real substance to it. So Nike could be hit or miss. Mostly miss for me.

    lawell would allow it if the money was good enough i suspect so would anyone on the board

    corporation, shareholders e.t.c. bottom line e.t.c like it or not we are becoming like all football teams more corporatised

    football clubs are being driven by television sponsorship e.t.c and the growth that allows foreign football fans which also by its nature weakens the link between the club and its bread and butter domestic fans, this is going to continue, 50 years from now christ knows how we are gonna look but i suspect a change in the home top is coming as it limits the profit potential. fans don't need to buy the new top every other year because its always hoops but change it to vertical stripes and suddently that fan is herded into feeling not part of the scene

    They will sell less shirts if it isn’t hoops. But I totally know what you mean from money and marketing. I think that is why we released the all white 125th. And the one this season with Celtic cross. There were nearly riots in 2000 because a side panel broke the hoops.

    Never in a million years would i support it. Anyone in the right mind would tell nike to go and * but then again, we have these capitalists now who would sell their * kid to jimmy savelle if it meant getting a few more mill.

    Against, the away tops is their opportunity to get creative.I doubt that Nike would have come out with as many terrible shirts as new balance has though

    It's all contextual really.

    Wear the hoops forever with no sponsorship and become a Falkirk / Dundee?.

    Or....New deal from Next.....Wear a tortoiseshell number with mushroom shorts with 300m sponsorship every season, enough to rule this country, Island and maybe even continent? Every season ticket holder also gets a £50 gift card from Next too?

    I would agree with that about the New Balance tops. Certainly a massive improvement IMHO on the rubbish foisted on us by Nike.
