CELTIC are eyeing up Manchester City transfer guru Fergal Harkin as their new director of football.

Harkin is the football partnerships manager at megabucks Premier League outfit City.

The Irishman has a vast knowledge of rising stars as a key member of Pep Guardiola’s backroom team.

Harkin’s reputation has now attracted Celtic as they look to rebuild after their ten in a row flop.

He has been a leading part of City’s transfer network, deciding where young players go on loan and building a vast knowledge of the global market.

Celtic and City have had a strong relationship in recent years with the likes of Olivier Ntcham and Jeremie Frimpong moving clubs and being sold on.

That link is partly down to Harkin.

Now he looks set to be the next one on the move from Manchester to Glasgow as Celtic plan a new-look regime.

Dominic McKay is joining as chief executive, but he comes from a rugby background.

Nicky Hammond is already heading up the recruitment side.

But there will be a senior figure coming in to a prominent role — and Harkin’s name has been mentioned inside Parkhead.

With Celtic needing several new players to challenge a resurgent Rangers , it would be a massive coup to bring in a talent spotter who has been at the heart of City’s transfer team for years.

Where's that from, is it credible. Know nothing about him but that certainly reads well. If true, another positive addition.

Would be very Celtic to have a club stacked of young talent, a director of football known for identifying said talent and then the person picking the team wanting to stock the first team with championship journeymen

We've needed a DOF for years now, *, I honestly think even Rodgers needed a DOF to help him out with the transfer side of things.

This points further to me that Lennon won't be here next season, think Hammond and Strachan will be gone too, albeit I suspect the club will keep Kennedy in a different role.

Rumours have been floating about previous. In previous weeks Reps from the club have been in talks with Harkin & Howe on separate occasions. I haven't heard how far on the talks with Harkin is.

Yes. I'm not sure what the latest is on that. As others have stated DOF & Manager would need to get on due the closeness of the roles
