    FCBarcelona vs Real Madrid

    El Clasico

ATTENTION: There is to be NO instigation by either Barça or Madrid fans, keep the conversations civilised and intelligent.

It's that time of the season again, the two giants of Spanish football meet for the second time in what has been a season of contrasts for the two of them. There's no doubting that Madrid come to Camp Nou as the wounded animal of the two, yet the wounds of this animal are not superficial, they are deep. They have no heart, no spine, and somehow their claws have been blunted time and time again. Los Merengues, who have for so long and so proudly dominated Spain, and for that matter, Europe, have been thrust into the deepest of pits for which only mass revolution can change their fortunes. Barça, on the other hand, are resurgent. A period of five trophyless seasons and heartbreak for Cules all around has ended with one La Liga title under their belt, and a second looking more than likely at this point in time. The Champions League, formerly known as the European Cup and considered the property of Madrid, has no room for them in the quarter finals, having been knocked out by Arsenal. This may prove to aid Madrid in their uphill battle to take La Liga from the firm grasp of the Catalans, as they will have a week's rest whereas Barça travel to Lisbon to face Sport Lisboa e Benfica in the first leg.

The previous match at Santiago Bernabeu stadium effectively ended Lux's spell as Madrid coach, though he was not sacked until after the Getafe match, the writing was on the wall as soon as thousands of Madridista's rose to their seats to applaud the genius of one Ronaldinho, who scored two brilliant individual goals to lead Barça to a 3-0 romping in which Madrid barely managed to muster a decent shot on goal.

This time will prove different however, despite Madrid finding it hard to score in their recent matches, which is something not often attributed to a Madrid side, Barça's defence can be considered quite fractured, with both Edmilson and Marquez set to miss the tie through injury. Argentine sensation Lionel Messi may make his comeback in El Clasico after missing much of the last month through injury. Puyol returns after serving a suspension in the previous fixture against Malaga and Ronaldinho and Deco who were both rested are expected to make the line-up bar injury in the CL.

    Probable Line-Up:

    ----------------------Eto'o------------------------
    -Ronaldinho-----------------------Lionel Messi-
    ---------------Deco-------Iniesta----------------
    ----------------------Motta-----------------------
    -Sylvinho-------------------------------Belletti-
    -------------Puyol----------Oleguer-------------
    --------------------v.Valdez---------------------

Madrid may welcome back Jonathan Woodgate as he returns from injury for the umpteenth time.

    Probable Line-Up:

    ---------------------Ronaldo---------------------
    -Zidane------Raul-----------Guti---Beckham--
    -------------------Pablo Garcia------------------
    -r.Carlos-------------------------------Cicinho--
    ------------Woodgate--------Ramos------------
    -----------------------Casillas--------------------

Personally I don't see Raul being left out of a Clasico match by option, so Robinho will most likely be relegated to the bench as Ex-Fenomeno will most probably get the nod ahead of Cassano. Whether or not this proves fruitful is hard to predict, but many will assume that Cassano would be the better option.

It finished 1-1 but barca was all over real in the sencond half

Real only managed 2 shots and barca had about 20 shots and larrson missed in the last couple of mins

I was cheering on Real Madrid, i thought the sending off actually helped Real Mardrid to get going. They stepped up their performance after RC got the road. Ronaldo's finish was top class
