Enjoying George and Pop by Glasnevin just now. Also, Glasnevin’s version of Boys of the Old Brigade is one of the best recorded versions of the song I’ve heard.

Sinn Fein used to sell a T Shirt that said “a lorry load of volunteers” on it.

    loved that T Shirt!

I remember a few decades ago going in car with parents from Glasgow to visit sister in London and listened to Rebel songs all the way down. Brilliant.
My old man started singing some of the songs in Irish Gaelic.
Found out from my gran (* rest her * soul) that one of my great great uncles was fighting in the Easter Rising and one of my cousins (never met them) was killed by the brits in the 70s.

Today is the anniversary of Grace Gifford Plunkett's death. Not that we need an excuse to listen to this again.

Following the election results in the north of Ireland, it seems appropriate to listen to this one. Time to prepare. :celt_2:

And now as I lie here, my body all holes
I think of those traitors who bargained in souls
I wish that my rifle had given the same
To those Quislings who sold out the patriot game

Take it down from the Mast.

Those who know , will know the rest.

And those who know , will understand the "Free Stater " quote.

The Legend is such an excellent song. Also think Chris Carney is one of the best reb singers around.

Remembering Vol Francis Hughes on his anniversary. Indomitable in the hills and glens of south Derry, unbreakable in a British jail.

Would have been my da's birthday today. This is his favourite version of this classic.
