Haven't seen a pre-match thread for it, ok, this could be a bit soon :52:

Still. As we are at home for the first leg, August 18th, and providing we make no more signings, I think we should play:

    ---------------------Zaluska
    ----Wilson----K.Wilson----Majstorovic---Izaguirre
    ----Brown (C)----Ki-------Kayal----Commons
    ----------------Hooper----Stokes

we will need Maj in as his experience will be vital.

Some of the sion fans think they can get a result against us. heres hoping we prove them wrong :50:

The rest of the Sion fans are delighted to have drawn us as we are a massive club :celt_2: some also mentioned that Sion are also a catholic club, not sure on that.

Anyway, provided we have no major injuries, I reckon we can win this 2/3-0

I'd have no issues with this line-up. Stoked for this game!

We need European football. If we don't qualify this season serious questions will need to be asked.

As long as Lenny gets his tactics right.

Playing stokes and hoopy at home in a 4-4-2, and letting samaras up front on his own away with the fabulous five (Ki, ledly, brown, commons, kayal) in midfield in a 4-5-1

Dont know a lot about Sion, looking forward to this game though. I feel we have come a long way from last seasons exit and it was a case of too much too soon for a new squad of players and a new manager. We have the players to do the business now.. I would play a midfield of Brown, Ki Kayal and Commons at home and get right at them from minute 1.. the home crowd and the pace just might be too much for a team used to playing in a 16,000 odd capacity stadium at home. After that the 4-5-1 with Samaras should be enough to see this one through!

    First post by the way!!!

    Welcome mate,

Correct as well, get after them from first whistle play how we know they can play and i feel we should take couple of goal lead to Switzerland.

Club, fans and Lennon need a European run this season more than ever. :shamrock:

Just found this online there, its the reaction from the manager of Sion for the Europa League draw. Sounds like a decent guy, talks about the teams new owners spending money to get new players and what players Celtic should look out for. He recognises the strength we have and how its going to be difficult to beat us over two legs. Looking forward to this match knowing we are playing a team that although they might not be the best they have the ambition

I think we should go a bit more attacking away from home as we will need the away goal(s).

    4-4-2 with

    Zaluska
    M Wilson
    K Wilson
    Maj
    Izaguirre
    Brown
    Kayal
    Ledley
    Commons
    Hooper
    Samaras

Picked Samaras because I just think he would be more threatening in Europe than stokes.

As long as we don't concede at Prkhead then I can't see us losing this tie!

The 4-5-1 formation away sounds like a winner and (depending on the circumstances of course) I hope Lenny goes with it!

I think we could achieve a 3-0 win at home but I still wouldn't go defensive in the away game. We just invite pressure onto ourselves. It hasn't worked for us in Europe in the last few years. Our only away win in Europe came in Moscow where we attacked so lets * attack this year home and away

    I'm not picky.
Well the best form of defense is attack as the saying goes.

I think we should play a really good attacking team at home but we do have to be wary defensive because we definitely don't want to give away an away goal.

I do like a strong midfield of 5 though with Brown on the right wing and Commons on the left wing, with Ki, Kayal and Ledley in center. Plenty of attacking options there I think with Commons and Brown bombing forward.

This is a huge game for us, with the poor European performances over the last couple of seasons, we really need a run.

Hopefully keep a clean sheet, and win by a couple of goals. Biggest thing will be - finally - getting our act together away!

The home match is one where we can afford to play with two front men imo. A tight midfield is neccessary however.

    .................................Zaluska

    Wilson................Wilson.........Mulgrew.......Izaguirre

    .........Brown..........Ki............Kayal........Ledley

    .............................Commons

    .............................Stokes/Hooper

I would play our normal SPL formation in both legs. We shouldn't be fearful of this team and if we play to our full capability we should win comfortably.

too many to choose a favourite, der all smashin!

Whilst we all understand we will be favourites we should NEVER underetimate a team on a european stage.

Basel, bratislava, and even though we know shakter is a good team now, the first time round was a bit of a shocker to say the least!

Set up strong and ready to go to war!
