It makes sense that Howe will be announced when our new CEO starts on Monday. It fits with the narrative and why the club and Howe have been so quiet - the line will be: Dom was instrumental in bringing Howe to the club...

Could McKay announce Harkin on Monday as DoF. Then shortly thereafter Howe and Hughes. Hughes being the Head of recruitment replacing Hammond. Harkin gets on with supplying the means , equipment and resources to Howe, whilst interacting youth etc towards first team. Then Harkin finally signs players after being identified by Hughes and Howe.

Think all 3 could work together. Harkin would remain if/when Howe left.

    Convinced myself if anything.

Hughes won't be going anywhere the now though as Bournemouth could still potentially get a play off spot

This is what I think should happen. It's seems like a sensible approach and it's like we'd finally be taking this £100m enterprise seriously.

Not claiming to be a source or anything like that. What I've heard 2nd hand from board members and a few people that go to a certain school if u know what I mean is that the deal was pretty much dead in the water a couple of weeks ago bcos Howe was pushing for 15 staff members to come on board and we just weren't able to facilitate that.

"We can now confirm that Eddie will not be joining the Club, for reasons outwith both his and Celtic’s control."

This sounds like maybe it was his family or such that stuck it. Wasn't there some talk about his brother in law or something being on his list, but club said no? Wonder if it's kicked off a family ruckus?

Now we're getting somewhere. This sounds like exactly the type of thing that any new manager is up against. And why we don't do big name/reputation managers.

The transfer budget thing is just an easy (and lazy) thing to now throw at the situation.

It will have been a priority discussion point before he had even agreed verbally to take over. And if it wasn’t then we didn’t want him anyway because it should have been.

The club are saying, officially, it was due to something out with ours and his control. The logical explanation for that is he can’t get the backroom staff he wants, it has nothing whatsoever to do with his budgets or the potential targets offered.

The backroom staff thing is a load of bollocks.

I wouldn't particularly fancy moving to Bournemouth, but pay me enough to do it and I would warm to the idea

We didn't push the boat out and tried to force * such as Kennedy and laptop on Howe.

Told him he had * all to work with.

If he'd went to Newcastle when there was talk of Bruce getting the bullet, would they have went up there?

I still think that's such a pish excuse...even if true..

It's no even like they all got the bullet from Bournemouth together. His right hand man even went to work at Sheffield United his self. He didn't seem to mind that he was on a solo mission..

All his staff stayed at Bournemouth and many would've likely stayed if they'd gone up to the EPL..

He's had month's to sort out viable alternatives of who would come from his old set-up and maybe getting some fresh head's in from other contacts he'll likely have..

    It's a pish excuse if that's it..

There are loads of factors that go into any managerial appointment. Budget availability, the degree of control they have, how much they fancy moving to a new place etc and literally dozens of other factors. If there’s any dealbreakers, and there often is, then they should be identified early. You then either adjust your position to accommodate them, or you move on.

Make no mistake - none of this is on Howe. His priorities and loyalty doesn’t extend to a potential employer. The correct way for us to handle this was blatantly obvious - if it’s Howe we want then we approach him, ask him what his demands are, enter negotiations and wrap them up with a positive or negative outcome. If someone needs more time to make a decision, you have a hard deadline in things and then simply move on.

Sadly we’ve seen this story all too often recently, from not even considering other applicants when appointing Lennon, to leaving it entirely up to Brown to decide if he gets a new contract or leaves, and now giving Howe more time than anyone could reasonably ask for to come to a decision. The board go n about being a ‘family club’ but the vast majority of fans simply want a well run club. One that isn’t amateurish. I assure you the things we’re filing at are not difficult to do correctly.

Now, after one of the most difficult seasons in most fans lifetimes, we approach 21/22 with very little reason for optimism and that is once again largely down to boardroom ineptitude. It really is the ultimate old boys club for these guys.
