Think Gordon was far too casual that second half. His kicking was absolutely atrocious. I think the call has to be made as to whether you give Dorus another shot in goal, he certainly earned one with his performance vs Dundee.

There is something far too casual about Gordon playing out from the back. Its one thing being composed and staying cool under pressure and its a totally different thing just being casual and not picking the right pass

IF in doubt hump it up the park..

he was shocking today with his passing

Interesting that he has had his contract extended. Might see a decent chance coming for him in the future

Think its more a case of keeping a guy who Rodgers knows, trusts, is happy to sit and wait for his chance and is at the stage of his career where he won't moan.

Personally, I would give him another chance.

I agree he has put in quite a few impressive performances recently. A lot better than what we saw initially from him.

CELTIC are delighted to announce that Dorus de Vries has signed a contract extension which will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2019.

The 36-year-old goalkeeper signed for the Hoops in August last year from Nottingham Forest, linking up again with Brendan Rodgers, having previously worked with the manager at Swansea City.

The Dutchman made his debut in the 4-1 victory over Aberdeen and made six first-team appearances in the treble-winning season, including the 5-1 demolition derby win over Rangers in September.

This season he played in the Premiership game against Dundee at Celtic Park in the middle of October, producing a superb performance to keep a clean sheet and help the Hoops to a 1-0 victory.

Would be nice to see him get more of a chance. He stole that game against Dundee for us, made some top saves.

Unexpected. He's a decent 'keeper and seems like a good character so not surprised that Rodgers wants to keep him around. But I didn't think De Vries would want to stay much longer.

DORUS de Vries is part of a strong goalkeeping unit at Celtic, all of them working hard under the guidance of a top-class coach in Stevie Woods, and led by an inspirational manager in Brendan Rodgers.

The players have already enjoyed the benefits of that, with a domestic treble won in unbeatable style last season, and the team is continuing to go from strength to strength in this campaign.

So it was an easy decision for the Dutchman to put pen to paper on a contract extension which will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2019.

He is continuing to enjoy life at one of football’s top clubs, working hard every day on the training pitches at Lennoxtown and ready to be called upon if and when required, which he did to great effect in a 1-0 win over Dundee at Celtic Park last month.

Speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website, the 36-year-old said: “As a player you want to be at the best clubs and Celtic is certainly up there. It’s a great squad to play in, great technical staff who are enjoyable to work with as well, and, for me, everything is here to keep on going and make sure that we keep bringing trophies to this club.

“Stevie Woods is a great goalkeeping coach. I worked with him in the past and it’s a great pleasure to be working with him again.

“Craig Gordon, Conor Hazard, Ross Doohan, and there are a couple of youngsters as well, are all great. We all just want to keep going strong, working really hard, training well, ensuring everyone stays focused and fit, and make sure that the goalkeepers’ union stays strong.

“When called upon, you just need to be ready and that’s what we’re all aiming for. We all keep each other on our toes to get the best out of each other in training every day.”

De Vries is enjoying his second spell working with Brendan Rodgers, having previously done so at Swansea City, and he knows full well the benefits the Irishman brings to the squad.

“It was a joy to work with the gaffer at Swansea City before and ever since I joined Celtic, it’s been brilliant,” he said.

“It’s great to be involved in a club like Celtic, especially with the success that we had last season as well, and we’re trying to build on that this yea. It’s great to be part of that and I’m looking forward to what the future holds.”

Got no issue with De Vries getting an extension. Good back up keeper and it was clear he was hurt last season when he had that horror show of a start, especially against Barca and the Inverness draw.

This also might give us an eye into BR's transfer business in January, as clearly he doesn't seem to have a problem with Gordon like other fans do if he's giving the back up an extension.
