I've never mentioned anything about what boots the huns wear, and nor do I care.

What I'm saying is, if you're turning up to your first day of work at Celtic Park, claiming to be a big Celtic fan all your life, claiming that you're here to win all the fans over, claiming you're some kind of master of communication PR guru. The first thing you'd think when you got up that morning wouldn't be, "better make sure I'm dressed all in blue".

It's not like he was caught out on his way to Newsbox for 20 Club at 11pm. This was his big entrance to the new job, a photo opportunity months in the making. The fact that he chose to make that first appearance dressed entirely in royal blue shows exactly how much he knows about the club. * all.

    Inexperienced :56:

He transformed Scottish Rugby as a whole which then showed on the field.

He knows how to modernise a business. He’s not a scout or transfer speicialist. Once again he’s not in charge of the purse strings either.

Who honestly gives a flying * what he wears as long as he’s successful in his job?

I’ve met him various times and I can guarantee that he’s a passionate Celtic supporter (even if he was wearing blue on any of those occasions). His fashion choices don’t impact his capability for the role and any Celtic fan who thinks it does is nothing sort of an idiot.

Such a strange, defensive reply. You know him personally or something?

“He’s not a scout or transfer specialist”

Thanks for reiterating that. The complaint is we didn’t we hire a scout or transfer specialist. Repeating it back to us like new information isn’t a valid defence. :56:

The ‘business’ side of Celtic is absolutely fine by the way. That’s the * problem. It’s the football side to that needs modernised. * the business.

Also, why randomly mention purse strings (again, without evidence) which isn’t relevant to any of the points?

Sounds to me like someone’s just defensive and making sweeping excuses for someone they like. :50:

I'm not saying he's doing well or that he's doing badly, he simply hasn't been here long enough to judge either way but there's nothing happening here that wasn't happening pre his appointment so it kind of points to McKay not really being the issue.

Yeah some people are really jumping the gun here, I know last night was a sore one but he's barely in the door, some people on the board and behind the scenes have been here for what, a decade or more? Even if he's the best man for the job and gets literally every decision right at the first attempt, it's still going to take time to properly rebuild/modernise things behind the scenes just the same as Ange will need a bit of time to get the players working the way he wants.

Everyone seems to forget that Ange himself clearly thinks they’re not moving fast enough.

He’s called them out several times yet we’ve heard nothing from McKay and clearly McKay isn’t communicating confidence to Ange if Ange is continuing to complain.

It’s not random fans on the internet unreasonably complaining about McKay - it’s the Celtic manager complaining publicly.

You’re essentially telling Ange Postecoglou to shut up and give McKay time..

I get the feeling McKay and Postecoglou have a good relationship. For me the problems are historic and elsewhere. McKay is probably working within a budget and constraints that were in place before he was even in the door.

    I couldn’t give a * about him personally.

You just said something that was wrong so I corrected you.

It’s a fact that he’s not in control of purse strings. You think he can walk in and spend all the money he and Ange wants?

Your anger is so misdirected. Aim higher.

Has he directly called out McKay though, there's people behind the scenes that are completely entrenched in their positions, been a big part of the way things have been running up til now, the whole board might publicly have backed his appointment but I'm sure there's some that are massively resistant to any real changes being implemented, because it could spell the end for them and their friends in cushy positions.

Like I said, it's the bizarre sweeping defences and changing of subject that gives it away.

Anyway, why are you talking about money again? We're talking about experience of modernising the football department of a football club and you're here just insisting McKay has insufficient budget for the task, with no evidence.

Okay - since you're so desperate to talk about money - the board controls the money. Where is your evidence McKay hasn't been given a sufficient budget? Where's your evidence he's identified scouts, coaches, DOF, players etc. and they are refusing to sanction it?

Why wouldn't McKay just talk * to the fans, get the season ticket money in and save a * tonne of cash scrimping on players, coaching, scouts, infrastructure and collect a tidy bonus at the end like Lawwell did? It's random white-knighting for no reason.

My evidence he has no experience modernising a football club is that he has no experience modernising a football club. My argument is we should have hired someone who has done that before - please just admit that makes far more sense.

By your logic, McKay can do no wrong. If he sits and does * all then it's the board fault because assumptions.

No, he hasn't directly called our McKay and I'll freely admit you need to read between the lines a little. That's just the way public criticism in football goes. Safe to say such call outs are rare at Celtic, Ange has done very well to do it several times in his short spell here.

Ange seems the type to me that if it wasn't McKay's fault we're moving slow he would find a way to communicate that.

Either way I don't see how it matters. McKay was appointed by and paid by the people you're talking about. He's not a football manager looking to be here for a few years, build a rep and naturally move on. He's a CEO and will implement the will of the board that hired him.

Even so, my primary complaint is we hired someone to do a job when they haven't done that job before. Everyone insists on moving the conversation to blaming the bogeyman upstairs for not releasing money. That's not a problem I necessarily dispute but please explain the determination to defend a man, hired by those same charlatans, just because he happens to be here.

If we hired someone that's done the job before and remove any doubt over ambition and competence.

Basically right now we're all just assuming McKay wants to implement the changes we need and can implement the changes we need based on a few comments he made to sell season tickets and if he doesn't do it it's not his fault anyway.

    That, to me, is stupid.

A Lawwell puppet. New face same *. Tight arsed, full of guff, disconnected from the people that really matter. The supporters.

Also, there's only so far you can go with board constraints.

It's part of McKay's job to convince the board to release money and allow him to implement positive change. If he can't do that he's a * useless CEO anyway. It's hardly a legitimate * defence.

    This is a big issue.

We badly need a DoF or some sort of 'shield' who acts as a link between the board to the football side of things. It shouldn't be Mckay's job to lead transfer negotiations etc, help target players, and I fully believe thats what he is being asked to do. That was the issue under Lawwell and it needs changed.

Lawwell wasn't knowledgeable about football, certainly not on the field business, so Mckay certainly wont be, coming from an entirely different sport. I don't doubt he has qualities, but to get the best from him we will need to let him stick to what he is supposedly good at.

The quicker we transform the footballing structure the better, let qualified people do jobs they are QUALIFIED for. It isn't rocket science but yet again we make it so difficult.

It is * *. We are all supposedly "fans who shouldn't be bowed down to" yet we can all see it, so why can't they? It can surely only be nothing more than * stubbornness!!

What part of me directly replying to what you’ve said is subject changing?

It’s also not a defence of McKay. It’s redirecting your anger where it’s actually deserved.

Let me switch your questions up on you. You actually believe he’s got a substantial budget and that he’s the one that’s not allowing Ange to finish these deals in time?

He’s not in control of money. He won’t even have a “budget”. We do transfers case by case which is why so many fall through due to fees.

You’re naive. It’s been this way for over a decade. McKay isn’t the issue.

He's been in the role only a couple of months, no opinion can be legitimate as of yet..
