How many of you believe that maybe police talks before the likes of the old firm game last week have a negative effect on the mindset of our players going into the game. Watching the game last week our team looked like the passion to get stuck in was taken outta them and i was thinking how anti inspiring one of those police talks could be before a big game

Tbh i think the mindset of the players was more to do with the fact that the league was already in the bag.

This was the biggest game of the season for the huns, it was their cup final, don't get me wrong it would've been nice to win the game but in the cold light of day we have the chance to secure a double whereas the huns have won f**k all.

Lafferty's words after the game were roughly, 'We weren't going to let them win this game.'

It meant so much more to them, no question about it. Our team just didn't have the same kind of spirit to go out there and win, and weren't helped by the Cha dismissal.

Yeah it's utter pish to blame the police talks. The guys are professionals, it's their job to motivate themselves and perform to their best ability.

this happened in the sixties, the previous game had orderings off and crowd
    trouble (300+ arrests)
Sir Robert Kelly came into the dressing room before the next celtic v huns
game and told the players he had met with the police and he wanted the
game played fairly and sporting etc.
as soon as he left big Jock shut the door and said "forget all that *,anyone
who pulls out of a fifty fifty tackle will have me to answer to."
dont think the players last week took much notice of police
talks, they just didnt perform, having 11 men for 90 mins would
    have helped also.

    No chance in my opinion.

Players will no doubt keep quiet, be lectured, and the second the police leave they will be as pumped up as ever. Kind of like high school football when you would sometime get a teacher telling you to behave and the second you get on the pitch you forget about it. These guys should be winners. The opinions of a policeman of how they should approach a game is neither here nor there.

Yes it does have an effect on the players but that goes for both teams.Theres enough pressure on the players without the police telling them how to act and behave during the game.

Nah it had nothing to do with our performance, but the police getting involved beforehand is an utter riddy.

I'd imagine that most of the players don't pay much attention to those talks.
