One thing I’ve never understood is even cynically speaking we should be focusing on scouting and youth development, yet both get a back seat.

Financially it’s much cheaper and more profitable to improve scouting and youth development than try to get into the champions league each season. Also it has the added benefit of you’ll probably get into the champions league if you get those two things right.

Sadly Lawwell has always run this club season to season and just lazily hoped for UCL qualification.

Tognozzi and Maresca would definitely be an interesting combination, still unsure of whether Maresca could make that step from u-23s to first team but it can't get any worse than what we've been subjected to this season.

    Yep..

    We're so amateurish it's frightening..

We sit and wait, haggle until we lose out and try and wait for the EPL window to close....where we nab a * loan if we're lucky..

All this whilst going in to European qualifiers with youngster's who aren't good enough, no striker's 'match fit' or midfielders covering as centre halves..

It's a 1 year job to win the title back and qualify for Europe. If the new Director of Football is an Italian then so be it. The Italian's are better than the Scots, English, Irish at football. As long as the players settle in Glasgow, goes without saying Lockdown lifting will be a game changer.

Roy Keane and Desmond's golf pals son would be a bigger risk I think to the huns winning again. In the over inflated British Market. Neil Lennon Style management. With Gordon Strachans son analysing the game on football manager.

I think we should go Italian. Only thing is foreign managers coming to Scotland, like Ronny Deila, Caixinha, and the German man who went to Hearts. Can be hit and miss. Some were an embarrassment. They don't know the game. Talk the talk with their "attacking style". And can't deliver.

    Tognozzi -
Asked if the Hoops role would appeal, he said: "I think so. Given their historical success and how they want to build from their academy and build a long-term strategy for the club and still maintain success by winning leagues and cups, and Europe, that would definitely appeal to me.

"You could have someone like myself whose skillset could affect a number of positive areas like recruitment, vision. It's something that is appealing."

Juventus scout Matteo Tognozzi is interested in a move to Celtic as their director of football.

The Italian is among a shortlist of three names for the post including Fergal Harkin of Manchester City and David Webb.

Herald and Times Sport understands Tognozzi would be willing to make the switch to Glasgow from Turin but he is under contract with Juve until June 30.

Tognozzi counts Zenit, Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen among his former clubs before moving to the Old Lady as their foreign countries scouting supervisor. Though he is now their scouting manager.

It comes a short time after David Webb, formerly at Bournemouth, Tottenham and Huddersfield, exclusively told Herald and Time Sport that he would be open to a Celtic offer.

It's something that is appealing.

We’re really gonny appoint Man City’s loan manager over Juventus’ chief scout because he’s Irish and knows Lawwell’s son :giggle1:

I was fine with us appointing Harkin when he was first announced, but if the chief scout of Juventus is willing to join then surely to * he has to be the main choice?

I see that some bookies have Željko Buvač in the running for the manager position.

He is currently sporting director at Dynamo Moscow, and was Klopp's assistant at Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool. He could be an interesting choice for the director of football role.

In an ideal world, we sack Hammond and hire both. Never happening though.
