Nae idea who Tim is, but he has a blue tick so he must be at least a step up from the ITK twats.
Sounds like what others have said, pace, strength, can run all day and able to play both FB and WB. I assume the midfield comment is more for LM/W so basically can be the Frimpong on the left.

Happy to see this has picked up some amount of pace over the last 24 hours and if the rumours are true of us trying to sneak in an option to buy, brilliant.

Year loan here, does well, sign him for £5million next year as a 28 year old, another 2 years and sell to get money back, good deal IMO.

The few times I've seen him play(mainly for Uruguay) he's looked good, composed on the ball and a tough little guy. Hopefully he'll snap Tav(pen) in half. I am of course joking, I would never condone the deliberate injury of an opposition player.........

Knowing our luck he'll get crocked while away on international duty.

Current coach seems to favour Matias Vina from Palmeiras at the moment. So more than likely Laxalt will start on the bench.

Plastic pitches are an issue, but it's not like climate will be. Milan has foggy, cold, wet autumns and winters. Not all Italy is sunny.

Tim Vickery is easily the most knowledgeable british journalist when it comes to South American football. He definitely knows his stuff.

I'm sure he's the resident South American football expert, but I don't trust him ever since he said on the Guardian Football Podcast that Miku was his signing of the season and got me very excited. And he meant across all of Britain too...

On paper this is an excellent signing.

He will be used to a physical game as well coming from Uruguay and playing his entire career in Italy. Used to a 3-5-2 system and by all accounts had the best spell of his career playing it at Genoa.

Very happy if this goes through.

Seen him impress a few times. I think as far as the left side problem in the 3-5-2, he is in the mould of what we need. Happy with this.

Has a whiff of the El Kadouri signing....from a big club, fancy name, half-decent reputation but didn't settle or applied himself as it was a loan.

Let's hope this guy can. Would have preferred someone with british football experience who could play straight away, south american players generally are a bit of a gamble, despite the fact they have been playing in continental europe in less-physical leagues.

    Miku, Juninho, Scheidt etc.

£9million, bit steep for someone I reckon would not get that back for.
You got to assume the loan deal will follow at least a 2 year perm stay before being sold - cant see us selling a 30year old LB for £9million, but you never know.

Not every player needs to have a profit, if he is as good as we hope and proves it over the loan, then recouping half that fee when he is 30 may still be a good deal if he get us CL one of those years.

edit: even if it is an unreasonable optional fee later on, should not prevent the loan aspect going through regardless. We just dont take up the option if not convinced by him.

Sure he made the team of the tournament at the 2018 World Cup for his performances.
