Just checked this out of interest to see why the Atalanta move fell through. Apparently a €1 million loan fee was agreed with an €11 million option to buy with Atalanta matching his wages during the loan but when the deal became permanent he would have earned quite a bit less than his current contract at Milan so it didn’t go ahead.

I think he is going to be absolutely ideal. Pace, good engine, can beat a man and get crosses in. Should take some pressure of Frimpong.

A lot of Italian teams play 3 at the back with wing backs. It’s brilliant that Laxalt has previous experience of this role compared to Taylor for example who had never played wing back before.

Looks like the kind of guy who’d approach you on the street to sign a Greenpeace petition, wearing Crocs and cord troosers.

If we can get the midfield pair to turn the ball around quicker and ping the ball forward for the fullbacks to run on to, sorted.
With griff and klimala running forward as well, counter attacks and quick movements SHOULD be easy.

May have to (weirdly) allow the opponent's to have the ball a little more to encourage the space to open up.

Been a while since we've had a South American player. Can only think of Miku, Juninho and Scheidt. Benfica and Porto have done really well out of that market. Always wished we'd targeted it more.

This is of course different as he's already established himself in Europe, but sounds promising.

This is more like it, absolutely rapid and very attacking. Not sure how good he is defensively but worth a go for sure.

If this happens I’ll be absolutely over the moon.

I follow Milan very closely, have done for years, and when he signed I was delighted, but he’s never really had a run in the team. He was initially signed to compete with Ricardo Rodriguez who then went on to have a great season and kept Laxalt out. Milan have since signed Theo Hernandez, who I honestly think is one of the top left backs in the world currently.

He’s dynamic, good technically and has that aggressive side so typical of Uruguayans, so won’t be afraid to get stuck in. He’ll go by more defenders in a game than Greg Taylor has all season. In other words, he’s exactly what we need in the LWB role.

Probably difficult to get South American’s to move here when it’s constantly pishing down.

Kept this one quiet didn't they?

The usual pulls one out from left field and potentially a real game changer.
    Looking forward to this

Seems decent, has caps for a decent Uruguay team. Milan paid €14m for him so it won't be made permanent but it will do for now. He should be able to cope in Europe (well you would think anyway). The hair though, what the * is that.

CELTIC are poised to sign left-back Diego Laxalt on a season-long loan from Europa League rivals AC Milan.

According to reports in Italy the Uruguayan international will arrive in Glasgow today to complete a deadline day move.

Laxalt, 27, was one of Uruguay’s standout players in the 2018 World Cup, helping his country reach the quarter finals before being eliminated by eventual winners France.

He was also a regular for Serie A rivals Genoa and his form for club and country convinced Milan to fork out £12.5million for his services two years ago.

But things haven’t quite worked out for the versatile star - who can also play as a winger and centre midfielder - at the San Siro.

Blessed with blistering pace, Laxalt made 35 appearances for Milan before spending last season on loan with Torino.

After starting his career with hometown club Defensor Sporting, Laxalt landed his big move to Europe with Inter Milan in 2013 - but never played a single minute for the Italian giants.

He spent time on loan at Bologna, Empoli and Genoa, before joining the latter permanently in 2016.

Now, after spending most of his career in Italy, Laxalt is expected to complete a loan move to Parkhead before tonight’s transfer deadline, ending Neil Lennon’s summer search for a left-back.

The 24-times capped defender could be thrown in for an explosive Old Firm debut on October 17 before facing parent club Milan five days later in the Europa League.
