He done well but he’s just so slow and it’s even more noticeable when next to O’Reilly or Mooy. If he had a decent turn of pace he would be a very good player but his off the ball play defensively isn’t good at all.

As we’ve known for ages, a squad player at best.

I hate that turn he does constantly, slower than a double decker.

Not a terrible player just doesn't suit how we play at all.

He's a good player that produces the numbers but i'd cash in on him in the summer.

If we had a crunch game against the huns next week or an important European knock out tie, would you feel confident going into it with Turnbull as our starting midfielder? I wouldn't..

Of course I'm speaking hypothetically, but the point remains the same. The drop off from Hatate/Mooy to Turnbull (and O'Riley this season) is too significant.

Is he really though? If we're going by stats (which many of Turnbull's biggest supporters go by), O'Riley has created 1.62 chances per 90 in the SPFL. Turnbull on the other hand is at 1.24. In terms of defensive contributions O'Riley's are far higher too.

That's not me championing O'Riley btw, I think he's been very underwhelming this year. But so has Turnbull, albeit he has had limited game time.

The point is - stats are misleading for both. For the huns, Kent, Barasic and Tavernier create more chances per game than all of our attackers and midfielders. That's because they're constantly pumping crosses in and take all corners and free kicks I presume. Like I said the stats are skewed, particularly in favour of those who take set pieces - which Turnbull and O'Riley do.

The stats don't show that Hatate, McGregor and Mooy are the best midfield trio in Scotland, but they are by an absolute mile. The stats don't show that Hatate is the creative heartbeat of this team, but he certainly is.

His ball through for Kyogo was tremendous.

Depends on the rest of the team. I’d be happy with him next to McGregor or Hatate. Aye I’d be fine. He’s scored against the Huns this year fs :56:

Turnbull was great second half today, so many touches and 1 touch passes on the edge of the box. Although I agree with most not wanting him as a starter…he’s a fully competent replacement for when he’s needed like today

I like that he’s usually worth a goal or at least an assist but it’s not enough, I think david turnbull will be moving on in the summer window, we’ve just got better options in midfield and I’m expecting another midfield upgrade /starter in the summer if we win league and Champions League ££€€€££€€ is guaranteed

Think he was * poor when he came on, his slack pass to Taylor lead to them going up the park for the pk.

Tbh taking a corner and grabbing an assist, yeah it's a stat but fk me it's a stat I don't feel deserves too much praise. Look back at Naka to JVOH at corners, now that's a stat, not the odd decent cross.

He does possess a good shot but doesn't use it enough.

The guy has oodles of talent but he is so slow and negative which is crazy considering his shooting ability, just needs tutoring on focusing on his positive abilities which he has in abundance, ditch the constant sideways and back passes which drives everyone crazy.

His numbers are brilliant but people are kidding themselves on if they think he’s of the required quality to start in big games and be a real regular for us.

I've never seen it with this guy to be honest. Not getting the hype.
He does not strike me as Celtic minded either. Always seems to be floating around the peripherals,
    disinterested.

I feel as if he gets judged more harshly than most of the others. More often than not he has an impact in games. May not be the quickest but it isnt vital in his position and makes up for it with some of his other attributes.

Not the quickest but seldom gives the ball away. Recycles the ball and makes himself available. Not likely to be first name on the team sheet but worth a place on ghe bench.

He’s okay. He’s not as good as Hatate,Mooy or McGregor and that’s who he’s judged against.

That's a classic case of stats being deceptive. He couldn't lace Mooy's boots.
