The window closes on October 5th. So even waiting a month or two, to see how Turnbull plays, could be a good idea. If he picks up where he left off then we have to go back in for him.

I don't think we can wait too long, imagine we do wait and he ends up at Newcastle and playing well? Some fans would lose their * at pistol Pete

Aye well if Newcastle or someone else comes in for him then that changes. But until a team makes a bid then let him get some games under his belt.

No doubt some would lose the rag in that situation but I don't think the deal is a 'no brainer' in the same way that the John McGinn one was. If we were to sign him and he broke down with an injury others would lose their * and ask why we spent 7 figures on a crock.

It feels like a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario'.

He looked talented in the season that he came to the fore but it was still over a relatively short period of time and since then he's had more or less a year out of senior football. I'm sure any deal we put together would be contingent on a rigorous medical but knowing how plagued we are with baffling injuries at Lennoxtown, it gives me the fear a bit.

Anything less than £1.5m I'd probably take a chance, more than that I'd wait and see if he recaptures his fitness and form.

Can't say I've seen this boy play much at all.

Had a decent half a season by all accounts, banging a few in against mostly bottom 6 teams before his injury.

Way down the priority list for me, would need to prove his worth, I'd rather wait see how he does.

Compper, Bolingoli, Kouassi, Shved, and Bayo reportedly cost somewhere in the region of £11m. :52:

If we can get Turnbull for under £2m, I think that we should go for it. We spend that kind of fee on the kind of players above without blinking an eye.

I feel bad mentioning Bolingoli in that company: at least he has made some appearances. :giggle1:

100%. Stuart Armstrong should serve as an example and we should continue to sign the best scottish talent.

John McGinn was one that should have been done and yes he isn't in that category yet.

It is one that can go either way but I think no more than 2mil and we should go for it

I guess you could also add big donkey Jack to that list, and Gamboa too.

Celtic have watched this lad for a few years, even before he'd played a first team game for Well. We should sign him now.

Theres nothing to gain in waiting it out if we are in for him.
Get him now, give him a few weeks of training with the team. we are the most frustrating team when it comes to transfer windows.

I don’t think we should gamble until he proves his fittest. And if someone takes a chance and beats us to the signature, so be it.

The problem is unless one of our midfielders was to go, signing another midfielder is way way down the list of priorities this summer.

And despite his talent its difficult to see him getting much game time with, Brown, McGregor, Chritie, Ntcham and potentially Rogic, if he can stay fit and find his form ahead of him and after missing almost a year of football the boy needs to be playing regularly.

The best option would be to sign him and loan him back to motherwell for a year with option to recall him in January should we need to.

Whether we have the budget this year to spend £2.5m on a player that may not play for us this year is debatable and whether our board would be wise enough to have enough forward planning to sign Turnbull this year with plan to recoup the money in January or next summer if Ntcham or Rogic then leave is up for debate. They tend to be a sell 1st type of board.

We had a similar debate regarding McGinn - was difficult to see where he would fit into the team at the time... and whether he would actually add player value.

    Building a squad ain't easy...
