That's a wee surprise. Hope he does a good job. Always came across well in interviews, which you can't take a lot from granted, but his experience should be useful and you'd assume he has high standards.

Different kind of player to duff and in that sense I expect he will offer a different kind of advantage and style to his coaching (heard duff done well with the wide players, can't expect Fletcher to be as effective in that position).
Will be good having him and his experience from United days. He will bring a continued professional approach and plenty to teach younger lads.

    Wasn't Duff an attacking coach?

Jock was a defender I'm sure. Their playing career means nothing.

I wish him the best if he gets the gig

Sure in Griff's interview with Simon Ferry he was all praise for Duff in comparasion to the previous coach (I forget who it was) because he knew lots of nuances and detail from his playing days and passed on his experience

    Yeah.

If you had asked me someone I thought would make a good coach it would be Fletcher. Guys like that in the middle of the park are trained to think about the game.

He also learned from one of the best.

I would be ecstatic if he joined our coaching team.

Not saying he wouldn't be a good coach, no doubt he would be - someone who's played and won at the highest level in the EPL and CL, and being Scottish he'll know what it means to be part of Celtic.

But if he's coming in as Duff's replacement as an attacking coach then I'd rather we got someone who played there (what's Larsson doing nowadays :fear:)

I think we place too much emphasis on niche coaches. There was nothing to say Duff was an attacking coach apart from he was an attacking player

Mowbray was a hard as nails defender for us yet made Tommy Burns look like the most pragmatic manager we ever had.

Hope there's truth to this. Think he'd be an excellent addition.
