Signed a new 2 year contract this past season and made his first team debut yesterday vs Linz. From what I've seen on Twitter, he did well and commanded his box with authority.

It seems like he's rated by management, got on the bench a couple times towards the end of the season. Wouldn't be surprised to see more of him this year, and eventually see him loaned out to continue his development.

Thought he did go on loan last year but doesn't say. Must have that wrong..

I've thought he's looked better of the two when watching him or Doohan, but Doohan is rated quite highly by all accounts also..

Hazard for me looks like he has a better chance though. Much better distribution than Doohan who seemed a hit and hope keeper for the colts last year..

Craig Gordon certainly speaks highly of both of the young goalkeepers and there can be no doubting they're in a great place to develop under Steve Woods tutelage.

I'd give one of them a run out in a few early doors cup games etc.

Thought he was unlucky to concede the first goal after a good save; but very poor at the second. I'd need to see the third and fourth again to comment fairly but initial instinct was that he was slow to react.

Think he significantly lost confidence after the first goal but really shouldn't have been as much of an effect as it was, seeing as this was just a * about.

I shudder to think what he'd do in a game that matters.

There's also that kid Doohan, he's supposed to be very good.

I just saw highlights from yesterday, he was often left without any protection from his players, basically had 1 on 1 with Lyon players. He definitely had to react better when he conceded from left side, in his closer corner, that situation is basics for GK's.

Sounds like he froze yesterday and maybe the occasion got to him slightly? Was just a friendly but we were playing a very good side with real European pedigree at home, so can see how that would be the case for the lad.

Time will tell. It's really all about how he reacts after yesterday. He either knuckles down works hard and takes his chance if and when it comes round next or he fades away after his performance and it'll be the last we see of him. Upto him really.

CELTIC are delighted to announce that Irish goalkeeper Conor Hazard has signed a new four-year deal with the club.

The 19-year-old put pen to paper in Paradise this morning alongside Chief Executive, Peter Lawwell,

His proud family also watched on - parents Pauline and Gary and younger brother Jack, a fellow shot-stopper who is on the books of Glenavon.

Hazard’s latest new deal is testament to his excellent progress since joining the Celtic Youth Academy just over three years ago from Cliftonville.

Having consistently impressed for the Development Squad, he made his top-team bow earlier this summer in the pre-season friendly win over Linz.

And since the current campaign got underway, he has moved up the pecking order to become the current third-choice keeper for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Speaking exclusively to Celtic TV, Hazard said: “It feels amazing and it’s a great honour for me. It’s a boyhood dream come true and it still has to sink in.

“It feels unreal and it’s special to have my family over to see me signing.

"They have obviously been with me from the beginning. My Mum and Dad drove me everywhere and there has always been that football competition between my brother and I in the back garden.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do without all the coaches I have worked with. I have had great help from Colin Meldrum and Stevie Woods who have really developed me over the past three years and hopefully there is more to come.

Hazard’s long-term ambition is to become Celtic’s No.1 and the talented teenager knows he in the perfect environment to fulfil his undoubted potential.

“I have four years now to work as hard as I can to get it done,” said the keeper.

“Craig (Gordon) and Dorus (de Vries) have helped me a lot along the way and I'm learning from them every day, along with Stevie Woods. It’s a great achievement but now I need to try and push on and do it.”

“The gaffer has shown he is bringing through young players and it’s a great opportunity for us all and it’s up to us to take it and prove we can do it.”
