Maeda is more effective off the wing imo. I think he wants a third striker due to a scenario where both our other strikers are injured, which has happened before.

I’d rather Haksabanovic and Jota on the wings and use Maeda as the 3rd option was effective in that role in the World Cup. Just an opinion I’d rather he looks for an attacking midfielder. Just my opinion though

And your opinion is valid mate. You make a good point. Maeda was effective in that World Cup, but he has struggled there for us in the past. He's been in fire on the wing for us since the world cup

He was effective in that role at the world cup as he was harrying teams that had a lot of the ball and that left space for him to run into. I can't recall him ever playing against a packed defence there, although I didn't see all of Japan's games so perhaps he did.

Personally I'd like a 3rd striking option outwith Maeda, he is emergency cover only in that role here for me.

He never started against Costa Rica. They used a "target man" striker who played poorly. He isn't really tall, though. But yes, Maeda isn't at his best when the opposing team defends deep.

    How? Why? When?

Cho’s arrival has always been completely dependent on Giakoumakis’ departure.

McGrory said deal is still on the table. Think you’re listening too much to guys like Romano and South Korean sports reporters.

True, but Oh has filled the striker spot in the meantime. It may also be the case that Jeonbuk's hardball (non) negotiations and Jo's fears over a winter transfer have put Ange off. I'll be honest, and state that as a South Korean NT supporter, I want Jo's career to progress. But I'll be shocked if we are his next destination.

Cho seems to be a more of a like for like replacement for GG due to age, experience and skill set and Ho seems to be more of a development striker, Cho being in Spain is a bonus as you would think that Cho’s signing could be completed quickly after GG’s departure.

After all the chances we missed in the CL this season, I think Ange will want 3 good options to choose from.

I see he’s just turned 25. He’s really got to be moving to Europe now if that’s his ambition.

I suspect once GG is confirmed as gone then we will pull the trigger on this. You could imagine Nicholson giving Ange that as a condition. Seems sensible.

Oh coming in takes the pressure off if GG leaves and we still don’t get Cho.

    We'll see.

I personally think that ship has sailed whether Giakoumakis leaves or not.

Korean journo who was on one of the celtic pods made the comparison after Oh's signing.. said that he's more a targetman type, poorer on the ball and far less mobile than Oh.. wouldn't be particularly suited to our style of play.

    Not exactly a glowing review.

I think we could do with another option.

Ange spoke about Iwata and formation alterations I think moving forward we may see changes in some games in the way we set up, that could allow 2 of our strikers to play.

Oh also looks as though he could go wide in games, RW or LW.

Would still be open to this. Plus I'm a greedy *.
