Him and Erik would be a great CB partnership. They showed it a bit at the end of last season. Have a healthy Jozo in reserve and maybe add another CB with experience... Yes please. As for the Ajax game, I dont think he did himself any favours by just walking off so quick. He didnt stop with the management or look like he was ravaging in pain walking off. Not saying he wasnt injured cause he had a long layoff after that, but I think rushing off with no visible sign of pain didnt paint a good picture, at least it didnt when I was watching.

Hope he stays, good cover for a few positions and a very solid centre half. Every squad needs a player with a bit of versatility

Chuck, Erik, Jozo and a new ball playing centre back would be the absolute dream. As much as i think Erik is fantastic, im not sure i want him as the one starting attacks. Although if we can get Jozo fully fit and in form, we'll probably be okay with what we've got

Agree. I can't believe that some people actually thought he threw his toys out the pram because we were getting beat and just walked off. If he did do that, the Club would have severely disciplined him and would have probably gotten rid of him.

A like big chaz, I was happy with him playing CB at the end of last season. Felt more relaxed about it than a was when boyata or ambrose was playing.

Hope he returns this season :50:

There were more folk that said he walked off than didn't.

Not sure where you're getting that from.

The telling thing from that Evening Times article is that Mulgrew is openly saying he wants to stay at Celtic. That says a lot. He could be touting himself to other clubs as a free agent but he wants to stay with us.

Hope his contract gets sorted, he's got a lot of attributes to bring to the team and has a lot of experience.

There was a few mental folk on here too.. I was one...:smiley-laughing002:

Charlie became as easy target for our European frustration and it was a knee-* reaction.

Think I was one of the first to blast mulgrew for that. Still stand by he was wrong in the way he done it.

I don't doubt for a second that he pulled the same injury, the medical team would know about that for sure. But the way he just walked off, barely a look at anyone, no signalling of needing to come off etc was very bad in how it all panned out in social media.

Had he simply made the rolling arm signal (the one to suggest a sub is needed), and then started to walk straight off, a point to his leg and a shake of his head and we would all of known an injury had occurred and not have batted an eye.

But to walk off with no signal, not even talk to your manager, not even sit in the dugout, just smacked of taking the huff.

Aye maybe.. We had used all our subs tho.. It was pointless for him to stay on given the games and our campaign was over..

He could have handled it better but he's human and had reason to be frustrated, personally and as a Celtic man.

Agreed, and months later I'm happy to hold my hands up and say I (and others) were very fast to judge him.
Will still stand by he could have dealt with it better.
.plenty of players have needed to come off after all subs have been used and at least make the effort to tell their manager

Must have really undermined the backroom staff as well.

Just caught his interview with Sky Sports after the Scotland game. Asked straight out about his future, he said he spoke to Brendan on the phone, said he wants to stay, and Brendan wants him to stay, but there has been no offer from the club yet. Expects this will happen this week.

    Didn't sound very convincing though.

Think Charlie will get another two year contract, especially if Ambrose and Boyata are shifted as I expect.

Charlie Mulgrew deserves another 2 year contract as he is a dependable utility player.being able to play centre back, left back and midfield with aplomb.

I think the board are waiting to find out whether Brendan sees him as a starter or not. If he sees him as the partner for Erik he'll get one but his wages might be too high to be a squad player.

I like Charlie but it's time to say goodbye imo far too injury prone to be trusted getting his wages out could get us a decent CB to play with Erik

It would be quite foolish not to give him a new deal. He'll be on about 10k a week at the very most and can play 3 different positions naturally.

I'd still have Ambrose and Boyata out the door before Charlie.
