Charlie Mulgrew

Discussion in 'Ex Players' started by Liam Scales, Sep 26, 2011.

Supposedly Bournemouth are hoping to sign him for a small fee in the summer. As his contract is running down. We must keep Chucky, unless he's carrying serious injuries!

  1. Yeah it's been confirmed in the papers down here that Bournemouth are interested. To be fair, he isn't really first choice any more, and it might be a good thing, him getting a move to the EPL and making a nice large wage for retirement and family etc. There should be a clear out this summer. Off load the squad players who don't bring anything and promote the promising young players to thd first team squad. There are too many journeymen that are contributing.

  2. Afc Bournemouth stick on for relegation

  3. Well they just won the Championship, good young manager with an eye for a good player, it's a bit early to be making easy predictions like that.

If you look at the squad they have there are a number of players we were posting over in players' suggestions. Players like Callum Wilson who's scored consistently over the last few seasons - 20 goals and 13 assists this time, Matt Ritchie who's breaking into the Scotland setup hit 13 goals and a pretty ridiculous 17 assists from right midfield.

I could sit here and rattle through the squad they've got goals throughout the team.

Any team that scores 98 goals and wins the Championship has as good a chance as anyone in the lower third of the prem, to stay up.

Actually when you look at the signings he's made on a shoestring, you might wonder what he might do with a decent budget and stick to exactly the same formula.

I'd quite like to see Mulgrew playing in the Premiership, it would be interesting to see how he'd get on. It does however reek of his agent looking for a move and it's just the nature of the beast that everyone wants to play down there and we like to have a bit more pace, youth in the side.

  4. Mulgrew going nowhere.

  5. He might be going nowhere but ffs somebody change the thread title :56:

Don't know where in this team he'd be first choice (barring CB if van Dijk and Denayer both leave)

    But even then... EFE!

  6. Leave my title alone ya * :icon_mrgreen:

  7. The entire time he has been at Celtic folk have wondered where he would fit in. In that time he's been a regular every single time he has been fit.

If life was as simple as pick your best 11 and injuries, suspensions, loss of form, change of formation, change of tactics and any number of other variables didn't exist then aye he'd maybe be surplus to requirements but as it stands he'll stay and he'll play a major part again next season.

  8. He'll slide into that hole left by big VD or Denayer nae bother. He's been biding his time in the shadows of the injury room and the training pitch...now he's ready to become the ultimate BEAST/(warrior) in defence this year.

No more midfield 'wizardy', * that, its time to get back to basics and boss that backline like a * master.

In short, dont * with Chico...................or his hair wax.

  9. Agree 100% with that. Charlie Mulgrew is far too useful to not be an integral part of the squad.

  10. There is absolutely no value in letting him go. He is more important to our squad than a modest fee. He is on low money, plays several positions, and is a fan.

  11. PL - " Charlie, we'd like to keep you but you've not been playing and who knows what could happen with your injury. So we'll keep you but need to reduce your salary"

CM - "I'd love to stay but need an increase not a decrease. Bournemouth are waiting so it's up to you"

  12. This

  13. He might have to step in and try to fill VVD's big shoes. Mulgrew * me off earlier in the season with his * performances, but I think he still has a job to do.
Wouldn't be too upset with him partnering Lustig if he stays fit.

  14. Sorry mate, it is a wonderful thread title - I was talking * :52:

  15. Am I the only one who thought he played well today?? considering his injuries I thought he was immense.

Wonder if Deila and Celtic had words with WGS about easing him back after we lost to ICT.

  16. Man of the Match tonight.

  17. 100%

Still getting some stick on here today.

At CB the first name on the Scotland teamsheet.

  18. Not at all. Was solid.
