Astoundingly dim observation about a recent Celtic icon.

I personally don't rate him in midfield, albeit he covers Izzy well and others a little steadiness in there. He's been quality for us at CB in the past. Time will tell. He's had a long time out so we probably won't see him at his best until next season.

His best position is obviously central defence but people are way over the top saying he's a * left back. Its been years since he was pish there. His POTY season was mostly there despite people claiming he played cb the full season.

Two performances from Mulgrew stick in my mind - his ridiculous performance at Rugby Park to win the league (2 goals and 2 assists) and Scotland's 2-0 win over Croatia at Hampden. Both were at left back.

I'd have him back in defence. Get him settled in for the qualifiers.

Playing him in midfield you need Brown protecting him, Charlie isn't as confident on the ball when under pressure so would more or less pass the ball sideways or back as he dithers on the ball too much as well. He's solid in defence, not fast but good in the air, strong, good tackler and a decent range of passing.
He was very inconsistent in CM though some games him and Brown where excellent and ran the show. Don't mind him filling in if no other options but should be back up for CB and LB.

He's been huge these last 5 seasons. This is the first season he's ran into injury problems, too. So reliable, similar to McNamara. Very few players in the last decade have managed to maintain his level of consistency, while playing so much for us.

His star may be diminishing now, but his importance since rejoining the club cannot be overlooked.

Icon though? ICON! Come mate ffs.

For me the only thing he's been consistant in is utter pish performances week in, week out and then me tearing my hair out asking myself why the * will Lenny never drop him. Cost us the treble in the season we won the double with his pish defending against St Mirren for the first goal, missing his penalty and then having a Braafiedesque moment of stupidity with his hand up in the air conceding the penalty St Mirren converted.

He's a player just like Stokes, Griffiths, McGregor, Boeriggter, Tonev, Pukki, Balde, Frijohnson, Irvine, McGeough etc that we need to get rid of to improve the quality of the squad over the quantity.

I hope Lenny takes him and Stokes in the Summer and does us a favour tbh.

You honestly have to wonder what someones motivation for supporting Celtic is when they appear to derive no joy from it at all.

Everyone is *, we are * and everything is doom and gloom.

    * that, I'd start watching something else if I was coming on here every day to do nothing but complain.

Spoiled * brats that can't let go of the MON years.

You notice a distinct pattern of the wee greeting faced wains on here hating certain people until they have a couple of good games and then they're the best thing since sliced bread.

Bitton was a useless * up until a couple months ago according to these same posters and I dare say after a bad game would be again.

Nothing to be ashamed of mate. Competent performer in a number of positions, good tim and he has given us some great moments over the years.

A valuable member of the squad.
