Looking like the last straw for McClaren at #nffc. Loan deals for Michael Kightly and Lloyd Dyer were vetoed by chairman in last 48hrs.

Not sure tbh, not sure what's out there. The chairman is the important bit that needs to be dealt with, a nice rich owner would go down a treat :50:

Then O'Neill might manage us.. :D

Yeh he's more realistic, but one can dream :56:

I was over the moon when we got him, really thought he was what we needed. But as you said, the chairman didnt give him any support, the fans staged a protest before the game today to get him out and it worked! Hopefully we can get some decent investment from a new chairman, Mark arthur to stand down next hopefully :50:

Championship basement side Bristol City have confirmed the departure of their manager Keith Millen.

The Robins sank to the bottom of the table at the weekend after being hammered 5-0 at Blackpool.
And, with just one win from the opening ten games, the club have decided to take action by removing Millen.

Chairman Colin Sexstone said: "I'd like to place on record my thanks to Keith for his 12 years of service at the club. He is an outstanding coach and we wish him all the very best for the future."

Millen first joined Bristol City as a player in 1999, later becoming a youth coach before moving up the ranks and finally being appointed manager of the club last year, succeeding Steve Coppell.
Millen is the second Championship manager to leave their club in the space of 24 hours after Steve McClaren departed Nottingham Forest.
Former Cardiff City manager Dave Jones is reportedly an early contender for the position at Ashton Gate.

Nottingham Forest are delighted to confirm the appointment of Steve Cotterill as the club's new manager.

The appointment has been made by Chairman Frank Clark after Forest reached an agreement with Portsmouth over compensation and he met Cotterill for talks.

The 47 year old has signed a three-and-a-half year contract, committing him to The Reds until the summer of 2015, and will begin work on Monday.

Mr Clark said: "I'm really excited about the appointment.

"Steve was always at the top of the list and he fits the criteria that we set out when I first started looking at this with the board last week.

"He's enthusiastic, he's hungry, he's got a terrific CV and he's experienced at this level. He was everything we were looking for.

"Experience of the Championship wasn't the most important thing - the most important thing was his CV.

"For me it's all about the CV and not the job interview because that tells you what he's already done and not what he might do in the future.

"There's no certainty in any appointment but looking at Steve's CV we're really pleased to have got him."

Cotterill will hold his first press conference as Forest manager on Monday afternoon.

Assistant manager Rob Kelly will take charge of The Reds against Coventry at The Ricoh Arena tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).

Good appointment by Forest, hes done a good job at Pompey considering the restraints he had. I would expect to see Forest climb the table now and be safe, dont know about play offs but they will/should be safe

Derby manager Nigel Clough and his backroom staff have signed new deals until the summer of 2015.

The 45-year-old's contract was due to expire at the end of the season and he had been linked with a move to local rivals Nottingham Forest.

Clough, who has steered the Rams to fourth spot in the Championship this season, took over at Pride Park in January 2009.

"We believe there are some good times ahead of us," he told the club website.

Chief executive Tom Glick told the club website: "Our commitment to Nigel and his team has been consistent throughout.

"We have always seen the incredible work taking place behind the scenes, with all levels of the club improving under his leadership

Wouldnt be surprised at this, the fans have been on his back the past few weeks and the 3-0 defeat at home vs Milwall seems to have been the final straw
