Championship Players Celtic Could Turn to in the Summer

Even the most ardent Celtic fan will concede that catching Rangers at this point is unlikely. They are in great form and do not look like dropping enough points for us to catch them. Ever since our October washout, it has been an uphill struggle and one that looks deemed to fail.

With that in mind, Celtic and particularly the recruitment team should start looking towards next season by identifying some fresh blood to improve our chances of winning the title next season.

The problem is, where do we look? COVID-19 might hamper our chances of picking up players around Europe due to travel restrictions and the PL is as we know, highly overpriced. Well, that leaves the Championship, a division most will accept is one of the toughest in Europe. This division is full of players aspiring to play at the top level and as we know, Celtic with European football each season and regular titles is at that level.

So who should we go for in the Championship? There are plenty of names we could and should attract to catch up with the changes made by Gerrard at Rangers. If we can attract the right players, then this will be the key to success. However, we also have to remember that if Rangers also have a good run in Europe, they too will have lureing power to bring in new players.

    Britt Assombalonga

A player that has commanded big fees in the past and with an impressive goal scoring record in the Championship, Britt Assombalonga could be a good option. Still only 28, the striker is out of contract in the summer and could be grabbed for nothing. The forward averages a goal every 3 games and is a physical player that could add some steel to the Celtic frontline.

    Championship Betting Tips & Odds

As ever, the Championship is proving to be the toughest and most competitive division in England. If you were a betting man, you could have a case for wagering on any of the top ten to stand a chance of promotion either automatically or via the playoffs.

If you are looking for somewhere to get predictions, odds and line-ups of upcoming Championship games, there are numerous sites but you can find the best championship tips on 101greatgoals. Alongside a schedule which includes the odds on the next 10 games, you will find outright odds on the title, promoted odds, and who will end as the top goalscorer.

    Michael Olise

A young midfielder that can also play on the wing, Michael Olise has started to attract the interest of bigger clubs in the past couple of seasons. Currently playing at Reading, the star has been a big part of the clubs recent push for the playoffs and could be a real coup for Celtic. The only issue would be if Premier League clubs start sniffing around.

    Jed Wallace

Another winger/midfielder, Jed Wallace is idolised at Millwall but is now at 26, at an age where perhaps he might consider a new challenge. It looks unlikely that Millwall will challenge for promotion in the next few seasons, so he may feel that he needs to make the move up a level himself. Millwall will not want to cash in but a solid bid might force them to consider.

Could they be Enough to Freshen Things Up?

It is clear that Celtic need to go in a new direction for next season with fresh new blood eager to prove themselves at a top club. Defence, midfield, and attack need sorting with both outgoings and incomings. The Championship is the ideal place to look and even if the above players are unattainable, there are still some great bargains to be found.

Either way, we need to bounce back and cannot let Rangers build on their current success. Our transfer business this summer needs to be of top quality.
