Anyone else here think Matthews is much more effective on the wing than Forrest has been in the last 12 months for Celtic?

    was petrov but now McManus
"effective" would be a wrong choice of word. For all his running Matthews didn't look like delivering on anything last night. On most occassions the fullback just shepherded him out wide and snuffed him out. He had some promising runs but that's all they were, promising. Matthews produced nothing last night. Not saying Forrest would be any better, he's been shocking for a while now!

We could have still been playing that game today and we probably wouldn't have scored.

The points were there for the taking, but we just don't have the quality needed to put the ball in the net. We've lost Hooper, and I fear that none of the new boys have what it takes to replace him.

I think its more a lack of creativity than problems with putting it in the net, I think if we create more chances in the next 5 matches we will score goals.

Based on the half an hour Pukki's played for us (in which he scored, by the way)?

Or the handful of games Baldé's played (he played very well against Liverpool and got a goal)?

How people are making these kind of judgements at this stage of the season is beyond me. There're too many people with "gut feelings".

We aren't clinical enough, when hooper had one chance away to spartak, a hard chance it was he scored, when he had one chance at home to spartak he scored.

The current crop of strikers just don't have that one chance one goal kind of finishing. They are all more technical skillful players but they don't have the same knack inside the penalty box. Take Stokes when he skinned Zapata inside the box, now hooper couldn't have done that, what happened next though Stokes tried to beat the keeper at his near post, hooper would have gone for the far corner and probably scored.

Our current strikers all have a good level of skill about them but in front of goal i think they just aren't clinical enough for this group.

In addition we seem to have lost our knack for scoring goals from set pieces, which is something which we used to our advantage last season, against Milan, not only was the delivery average we just couldn't really get a head onto any ball that came into the box.

Agreed. It was poor goalkeeping last night by Forster, it cost us the match, I said the same last night.

A defeat is a defeat, is a defeat. No use playing well for 80 minutes of the game then losing your concentration for the last ten minutes and conceding two goals. We have to stop pressing the self destruct button in Europe and mature and learn to grow up and be able to keep our concentration levels high for the full ninety minutes.

Just finished watching the Barcelona v Ajax game from last night(didn`t even know Ajax missed a penalty) and was surprised by a few things. Ajax line-up and some player selections;this could be down to injuries though. For the 1st half they done well and had a great chance with Van Rhijn; but in the second it was much more one-sided.

Van Rhijn`s performance was a positive from the game. Gave Neymar nothing last night, defended well and got forward when appropriate(missed a good chance however).

After the luck we had last night it's tough to watch Swansea get a Valencia player sent off inside ten minutes then score a deflected goal. English *.

Gordon Dalziel just made a good point on the radio(shocking I know!). It was something I meant to mention myself last night.

What the * were our defenders doing at the second goal?

When Forster parried that free-kick there were 4 or 5 AC Milan players closing in on goal to stick the rebound away whereas the only Celtic player who made any attempt to get back and clear the ball was Virgil Van Dijk(and his effort was pretty half hearted). We were fast asleep there. Those are the things you get punished for at this level.

Aye, the commentators mentioned that last night. I think they thought Balotelli's free-kick was going in, whereas the Milan players reacted anyway.

Sammy's shot from outside the box was pretty close, after some great running, beating defenders.

Common's through ball to Scott Brown at the top of the box was brilliant.
