I agree they weren’t needed too add to the atmosphere at Parkhead, but what exactly has that got to do with me wanting the Celtic women’s team to be self sufficient?

They haven't been released, obviously. However it doesn't take a genius to have a guess at their wages. If the best female player in the world is on around £343k a year, it's extremely difficult to imagine our players will be on even a tenth of that. They won't be.

I'm comparing them for argument's sake. Not suggesting they should be paid the same or even anywhere close to each other. It's simply to prove the difference in the wage gap.

It's pointless even having this argument if you can't see my point.

Women's game still has a lot more hurdles than it should do, clearly.

I thought you knew, your own words were “the funding its receiving isn’t much”. So will they break even or will money be coming from other parts of the PLC?

Sadly I am, and it's the reason why only now we're seeing strides made in the women's game up here.

Too many people (men) still unable to accept that women can play football and deserve to be paid to do so.

So you don’t know how much this is costing then, I would suggest the manager Fran Alonso isn’t on peanuts. So unless we are getting in paying crowds and sponsorships then this is costing us money.

Nah but anyone with a functioning brain can have a fairly educated guess at how much or rather, little, these players will be on. It's not difficult. And btw the team has a few sponsorship's already.

Do you not think the club as a whole has thought about the financial aspect of this? If it was going to be such a financial drain that you clearly think it's going to be then they wouldn't be going professional. Come on.

Why you actually give a * so much in the first place is strange. Like I said, look at some of the * that's filled up our squad the last however many years. We've yet to dissolve as a club despite carrying numerous players on decent wages for all this time. So you needn't worry about a women's team.

Last thing I'm saying on the subject. * nonsensical argument.

Womens football is already starting to rise in popularity hugely (look at the rise in registered players worldwide and also the audience for the women's world cup). On the financial side of things the money available, so far, has been pretty pish but that is also going to rise drastically as well (uefa seem to be taking it seriously ish). There might not be a lot to be made domestically - the wages are currently nothing to boast about - but competing at european level and international level the money will rise and continue to rise for a number of years imo. So the financial benefits for those teams, who are at the top of their respective leagues, will be significant so self funding won't be a problem.

Not the PC thing to say probably, but I have zero interest in the womens team....maybe even less than zero.

As a woman, who loves football. I’m in the I can’t stand women’s football camp. I like a kick about down the park now and again and thought about joining a woman’s team for fitness reasons but as a paid professional entity. Not a chance.
Women’s football is dire, really really poor when you watch it in comparison to mens.
    However that’s just my opinion.

I like women's football. The last Women's World Cup was actually refreshing with virtually no diving or playacting, and the level of skill was pretty good. It can only get better and better as more clubs go professional and the players benefit from that too.

Probably unpopular on here but I’m actually quite excited to see how the women do.
