As the Celtic Women’s team goes from strength to strength, and with the club just this weekend reaching the SWPL Cup final, Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce that Celtic Park is to once again host a women’s first team match early next year.

The match will take place on the international weekend of March 26/27, 2022 and as the club announced at the start of the season, this game will be included in the club’s season ticket.

Under manager Fran Alonso, the Celtic Women’s team has been energised. The club has taken on a new professional status, and last season reached the UEFA Champions League for the first time. This season the team well in the mix for honours across the Scottish Women’s Premier League and the cup.

Fran Alonso said: “Myself and the team are really looking forward to the match at Celtic Park and it will be a great opportunity for us to once again showcase our team and the women’s game, something which is hugely important to us.

“We played at Celtic Park last year, beating Rangers but unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we did not have our fans with us.

‘We are fighting hard this season and we will be doing all we can to bring the club success this season.’

“I know the players will get a huge lift from performing at Celtic Park and we are really looking forward to this occasion.”

The manager added: “The match will be on a free weekend and it is great that we have been able to schedule it in this way to avoid any men’s first-team clash, so hopefully as many fans as possible can attend and we can enjoy the support of a big crowd.”

Watched a few of their games against the huns and Edinburgh City on Alba, quite entertaining matches at times and it's good to see their profile steadily increasing.

It's still brutal - its hard to watch. Too slow, every second touch is a tackle and the passing is woeful at times.

Are Glasgow City not quite well thought off too? On a European level? They've been dire here.
