It has risen, 5 teams are now pro rather than 3. The Celtic team is awful this season, I think heavily due to a couple of years of poor recruitment. The huns are worse because costs had to be cut. But overall I'd still say as a league it's more competitive and at a higher level. You just see less scuddings because other teams have improved.

The level, it's more competitive but it's cause the 3 best teams have got worse with less quality about their teams.

It doesn't really matter wether teams are professional or not, might make a difference in the long run of producing more home grown players at a higher level but theres a lack of decent players about now. The games i've watched this season it's just far more average with basically not a single good player i've seen standing out technically or even with pace or being powerful or anything.

The best player in the League now might not have been in the top 5, two years ago.

I’m not the most active follower of the women’s squad, but from what I have seen the sooner Sadiku goes the better.

I know there’s some folks on here who follow the women’s game a lot more closely than I do (and I think I remember someone mentioning that they’ve been involved in coaching at some level) so I imagine others are more clued up than I am, but I’ve gotten the impression, and seen some chat, that the club is sort of half-hearted in terms investment in the squad & set-up. Is that actually the case?

Surely ‘splashing the cash’, in terms of the Scottish Women’s game, would still be a relatively small investment for us as a club? I know spending money alone isn’t the answer, and some may even make make the ‘business’/return on investment argument, but you would think the club would at least see the chance to boast that both our men & women’s teams are dominating the domestic game as being worth it.

Just need to write off the season. Beat Potter's manky hun * on Sunday and then focus on getting a new manager in the door.

Fully expect Sadiku's Celtic to disappoint next weekend though.

No word of a lie, I had been working on a draft for a similiar sort of article. And while this one mentioned above does touvh on some of the points I was going to make, there are some notable omissions made in that piece above.

For instance, references to Fran Alonso, who is contrary to what was reported there, is not 'mysteriously unemployed' after leaving Houston. In fact, he is the boss of Deportivo de La Coruna in Spain's Ligue F (the women's top division in Spain), having taken over there towards the end of last year. No real mystery in that... he left Houston with them sitting lower-mid table, and they proceeded to lose all but 1 of their last 8 games without him, being overtaken and finished dead last, while Alonso moved to Spain and is still in a battle to keep his current side just above the relegation zone.

Having lost the dressing room, I totally believe. I do not think that Sadiku has the confidence of the team at all.

Tactically, she is all over the shop. Certainly has proven unable to find a way against any of the best teams all season, has won just 1 game in 9 attempts against Sevco since she took over in January 2024, with that sole victory coming in March 2024. And had employed 8 different formations in the last 10 games, with only 2 formations repeated more than once, and that has been with 10 different starting XI's. Not once has the same XI players started a game in that time, even when players have been available etc. How do you expect any sort of consistency with so many changes to the formation, let alone tactics or selections? 18 months after arriving and Sadiku still does not know and is still searching for her best formation or her best XI. Clueless.

Her transfer business has been equally baffling. A point that was made about Celtic signing Emma Lawton, who has won the SPFA POTY this season despite Celtic's rotten form was undoubtedly the one piece of outstanding business... but here is the kicker - Celtic only brought Lawton in after Chloe Craig's ACL happened towards the end of August.

Lawton is clearly a quality player and was available but it took an injury for Lawton to be brought in. Why wasn't she brought in while we had Craig as well, and makee more use of Lawton in RMF in front of Craig at RB or vice versa (which, presuming Craig fully recovers will surely be the plan for next season)? But Lawton and Noonan aside, it's been pretty slim pickings in terms of players brought in.

But other Sadiku signings have been equally baffling. Case in point, the Carsten twins, brought from her former club, yet within just a few months Signe had left the club and Mathilde seems to be just one of a series of rotational MFs? There really doesnt seem to be any joined up thinking in any of this.

As was touched on in the article, allowing Caitlin Hayes to go in January without a proper replacement saw Celtic going for a back 3 of Lawton - Clark - Barclais... with the outer two pushing right up as overlapping fullbacks, leaving captain Kelly Clark essentially alone in defence. So Bruna was promoted to play alongside Clark at CB, but Bruna, safe to say, is nowhere near the quality of Hayes. Why was no CB brought in after Hayes left? If the rift was that great, and knowing Hayes was going to depart why were they not scouting/courting a replacement, and even after Hayes left there was still like nearly a week of the transfer window to go, and yet still no CB of note was brought in.

Obviously finances are important, but with the CL money etc imput there was resources in January, on top of commericla and sponsorship deals that have been in place. Undoubtedly, this has not been put to good use since Alonso's departure, and that is on top of what was brought in for the sale of Hayes also. The club have more than enough resources, but even if the club's approach is to make the women's team self sustainable, which it has been since turning professional, whilst the club is investing by covering for the work being done at Barrowfield, it still doesn't account for the slippages.

100% still want the Ghirls to win this weekend. A Celtic win will restore a little pride in a fixture that has been a complete mess (as I briefly touched on earlier) since Sadiku's arrival, even taking something from that game will do me happily at this stage.

Anyhow, I had a lot more to say, in being so frustrated with this current women's team situation, but am leaving the rant at that, lol. Now that I'm not gonna bother with the article as it's been done elsewhere, will leave it at that.

Been a frustrating season for those supporting the women's team Alonso had a team set up to attack whereas Sadiku seems to want the team to play a bit slower like a European team but that just allows other teams to exploit the back 3 when they win the ball
