Well, it's back to league duty this weekend after the disappointment of last night.

Going into this game I'd assume that the only player not available is Lustig possibly. It depends how he gets on between today and Saturday with his injury.

    With that said, I'll go with;

    Gordon
    Janko Boyata Van Dijk Tierney
    Brown Bitton
    Commons Stokes GMS
    Griffiths

I have a feeling that Izzy may start, but I'd give Tierney the nod ahead of him personally, let him show us what he can do.

I'd also bring Stokes in, as the side needs freshening up, and him and Griffiths usually work well together.

I'd drop every * from last night except Forrest, Armstrong and Gordon.

VVD should be nowhere near the starting eleven.

Aye, for a tactic that's apparently 'dead' and 'old fashioned' we fair got raped by it last night.

Van Dijk won't be here I'm guessing.

Is this Cifci's last game suspended?

Once he's back I'd stick him and Griff up front for the rest of the season.

    Pretty much.

This highlights one of the reasons I can't understand the freezing out of Stokes. He's a player who can play as an attacking midfielder behind a striker, but can also be pushed forward if required as well, enabling us to move from the much-loved 4-2-3-1 to a 4-4-2 at will.

Because we have a tactically inflexible manager. That's the long and short of it.

I pleaded under Neil Lennon for a change away from 4-4-2 how times change, to be fair any team these days should be adaptable, I never thought 1 up top could be as predictable as we are now, it's as if every attack we make is the exact same.

We rarely played 442 under Lenny to be fair.

It's early doors, and I'm not wanting to sound like a lot of the reactionaries we've had on here of late, but I'm starting to agree.

Was a 442 in a very loose sense of the formation, equally could have been argued to be a 433, with Broony covering the RCM and Commons joining the attack.

The very thought of the fluidity of our formation in those days is enough to make me weep :54:

Aye, we have players to have a very fluid formation. We don't use them that way, we are playing a system, not the best way our team can actually play.

The way it should work for me is I have these players, who can I play them in such a way that they are much greater than the some of their parts. Not I like this system, how can I get these players get the best out of this system, regardless.

Wouldn't that mean we'd concede a 3-0 automatic loss though?

Isn't that the way Ronny has coached all through his career though? I recall people mentioning this when he had a bad spell at the start of last season.
