For someone that has attempted to give me a pasting on semantics in the same thread what a crock of *.

Red Bull Salzburg are not definitely better than Celtic as well you know. We will have a better idea on Thursday, however, as things stand we drew with them at their own ground and by the end of the week we could have qualified and with a better head to head record. All without our best striker, by a country mile.

I'm not attempting to give you a pasting on anything, semantics or anything else. :50:

Ask any neutral who is the better team, mate. You will only get one answer. Regardless of what happens on Thursday (and we have beaten better teams than them at CP over the years, so I am hopeful we can win), our results over the past two seasons don't even bear remote comparison with theirs. It's not even close.

To be fair, they were knocked out of the 12/13 Champions League by the European giants F91 Dudelange of Luxembourg, knocked out in the qualifiers again last year by Fenerbahce, and then knocked out once again this year by Malmo. Hardly great reading that if we are being honest.

Yep, they struggle with these early qualifiers. Look at what happens once they get match fit, though. We've all seen for ourselves this year how important that is for these pressing systems.

I think you would be very surprised.

    Exactly.

They were also beat convincingly 4-1 by a team most folk have never even heard of a couple of weeks ago that have just been promoted from the second tier of Austrian football. Yes they have goal scoring strikers that are in form, however, they are nowhere near as good as some folk on this forum and beyond would suggest.

Over the past few seasons, they have been knocked out of Europe completely by F91 Dudelange, reached the last 16 of Europa, and are now top of this year's group as things stand. In that time, we have reached the last 16 of Europe's elite competition, qualified again for the Group Stages before being knocked out, and now we can move above Salzburg with a win on Thursday. I would rather have our record in Europe over theirs in the past few seasons if I'm honest.

I think thats a strong enough team to beat salzburg every single out field player there us capable of scoring not so much matthews and izzy fast wingers to keep them pinned nippy forward and battlers just infront of the defense commons is hit or miss for me if he isnt up to it by half time hook him for kayal n move johansen up

That midfield would get overrun, drop commons for brown and get johansen further forward and you would have my team for this match.

I'd imagine it will be stokes up front on his own? If it's scepovic or griffiths then why haven't they been getting more game time in the league? It's not fair expecting them to lead the line against the best team we've played so far this season when they've hardly played.

I'm only talking about the last two seasons. If we still had Lenny's last-16 team, I'd say we were the better team. Last season and this season, I'd rather have their record than ours.

Would leave us in a worse financial position, so I wouldn't to be honest.

Yes Its a no brainer to have record recently instead of theirs. But they have managed to do something that we haven't keep the spine of their team bar mane but he has been replaced like for like so they still have the team that got them their last 16 while we have lost wanyama, Forster, Hooper, Wilson, samaras, Ledley of the team that got our success. So while weve been rebuilding they've been going from strength to strength with the ssme team.

You won't get any arguments from me about them being a good team mate. Their record was being compared with our in recent times though, and in my opinion, and I would take ours. Over the past 3 years, it makes sense both financially, and from a football side of things, and over the past 2 years, it makes sense from a financial point of view.

I would say that is up for debate. If everyone was available.
