The team is probably jet lagged.

Ffs man it was a friendly...:giggle1:

We got pumped 3-0 by Yokohama F Marinos in 2006 and we went on to qualify for last 16 of Champs League that season.

The point being - don't read too much into these games when there are no stakes beyond just having a kick about and having a bit of fun.

There are a remarkable amount of aussies who talk down our league a lot so it struggles for funding and attendance. They get called eurosnobs as they often only watch european football and probably their lack if involvement in the local game is the big reason why football struggles here.

    * disgrace. Just waiting for the pictures of Ange and Welsh having a pint next to the pool.

In all seriousness, I can't believe how much people are freaking out. :56:Some of you need to get a grip.

Our title rival's players are 9 points behind and having a holiday while our players are getting MOANED AT for not winning:-

    - a MEANINGLESS game
    - on the other side of the world
    - while jet-lagged
    - against a decent and motivated side
    - after a gruelling schedule where they played in the UCL
    - with the team full of fringe players and youth players

We should commend the players for the effort today but instead we're worried we're actually pure * outside of Scotland and would struggle in Australia.

Aye I suppose our inexperienced manager has only * managed in Scotland so that makes sense. :56:

Can't say the result particularly bothers me, I tend to look at friendlies more for the performance and to see how good the squad depth appears to be from how our fringe players are looking. We definitely still have a fair distance to go in that regard as we have quality in depth in a few areas, certainly more than we used to have, but are still sadly lacking in others, so I'm looking forward to seeing who we bring in and let go in January.

Always thought it was a tight schedule tbh. A total mad dash when you think about it. We only played County on Saturday and effectively rushed over with barely any recuperation time for this game today. Total nonsense of a timeframe. Sydney Cup organisers should really have taken the club schedules of ourselves and Everton into account

It just seemed that the jet lag won, unfortunately not at the races for Ange homecoming game, but as others have said it’s a friendly on the other side of the world and we should treat it as such, I feel sorry for the fringe players who never really performed as people will judge them on this game.

roll on Aberdeen in December that’s the game that will matter most.
After Sunday we have 4 weeks of World Cup with know real interest who wins it, but I hope it’s some real minnow who surprises everyone

    Just can't get enough
Given that this game came after a gruelling period of games and also quite soon after a long flight, it's no surprise that some of our first team regulars weren't really on it.

Bit disapointed in some of our fringe players though. They still had the flight to contend with, but I expected more from them.

But I don't think we have learned anything we didn't already know.

Not clinical enough in attack and loose in defence.
Get in a defensive midfielder and a centre back and it should look a lot better.

Saw about 5 mins or so and we dominated, the stats where heavily in our favour. Unable to take our chances again by the looks if it. Everton game will be better as will be more rested..i hope.

I actually predicted the score to my Oz mates - wouldn't have dared do it on here.

Hoops were on a hiding to nothing when you consider...

    - jetlag
    - missing internationals
    - lack of genuine interest in the game by our residual lot
    - desperation of the Sydney boys to put in a good performance to impress Ange... Burgess might do well in the SPL.

Celtic will be a lot better on Sunday against Everton - expecting a win against better opposition.

I do hope it might help raise the impression of the AL in Scotland - given SFC are mid-table. I've said forever that Celtic and Rangers aside, most AL sides would beat most other SPL sides and I stand by that, but tonight was not comparing apples with apples.

By the way, Sydney are one of my more hated sides so Ange owes me one.

Sounds like money won again, shouldn’t be jetting off to the other side of the world to sell our soul for a few quid, should have stayed in Glasgow doing some light training with the players available on set pieces and finishing to improve the team.
