Izzy was probably our worst player last night, don't think he got a single cross into the box (not that it would've mattered as no1 can * head it) and he got caught out for pace loads at the back and also gave the ball away far too often, in dangerous areas.

One time in the 2nd half him and Broony just ran into each other and forgot where the ball was for a second, that was * as * and embarrassing.

    Matthews though was MOTM.

On the contrary, I think Vic is very composed and relaxed and never gets nervous, which is why all the big teams are looking at him.

But it's also his biggest weakness as he is way too relaxed sometimes and gives the ball away cheaply or does clumsy tackles and gets caught out of position.

A bit more nerves wouldn't go amiss with Vic as sometimes he just needs to * boot it rather than trying to spin and dribble his way out of trouble.

Matthews was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch last night, his best performance at Celtic I'd say.

I think its going to be a very diffrent game on their own ground,we will have to be a very solid defensive unit.I would have Ledley at left back, five in midfield and one up top.Do what they did to us keep it very tight early on, use Samaras to get us up the park and support as quickly as possible.Vic,Kayal,Brown is essential in the center.

A thought Mulgrew was the MOTM

Vic isnt tall enough for CB and he dribbles himself into trouble when playing at the back. A think his best position is midfield.

Celtic right now are too predictable with there build up play but am sure well pick it up.

Do not underestimate the home advantage of Finnish teams that play on artificial pitch.

KuPS from Kuopio, currently last in the Finnish league, won today the Turkish giants Bursaspor 1-0 at home in the Europa League qualifiers. Bursaspor, the champions of Turkey from two years ago, whose players earn more than the Celtic players, didn't stand out in any way against the resilient KuPS side.

HJK might be lucky to have lost by just one goal and to have score the crucial away goal. But luck almost always plays a huge role in competitive football. It's not something one can hide behind.

Celtic are still the big favorites to go through, but everyone should remember that next week's match will be tougher than this week's match, and that 1-0 would be enough for HJK to knock Celtic out.

I for one will be there next week, cheering for HJK and expecting a great football thriller!

Thanks! I wish Celtic all the best as well. I'm sure HJK will win the Veikkausliiga after a great new signing last week (the player in question was unfortunately not allowed to play against Celtic, would've been a huge asset). If we make it to the playoff-round, I don't even care much what happens. Getting even in the Europa League group phase would be absolutely huge for us, and in my opinion the EL would have much more interesting opponents than the CL and even a slight chance for some success in the group phase.

Celtic should have no problems in winning their own league, either. ;) Isn't it nice, that for the first time Celtic and Rangers can BOTH win their respective league titles?

He's 6 foot 2, how's that not tall enough? Two of the best centre backs of the last 10 years were both under 6 foot.

It's just nice that Newco Rangers - I'm sure you don't want 10 paragraphs elaborating on what happened to Rangers this year - are in the 3rd Division due to the crimes and corruption they committed. :celt_2:

I don't think any of HJK's players would improve our team. Considering HJK are 20-odd games into their season, we looked a lot fitter. Mid-season, we would've scored 5. It'll be a tough game next week, I'm not confident at all...

I personally already jumped into the Berwick Rangers bandwagon. ;-) I think the 3rd Division is too small for two teams called Rangers.

I know I am probably going to get a lot of abuse for this comment by in the away leg I would be making a space on the bench for murphy as the amount of time our fullbacks got I felt was unbelievable and i just felt with a presence in there we might of created alot more chances

On the contrary, I hope Murphy is sold by then.

I don't for one minute like murphy at all but I looked at what I felt was needed for that game and he I feel is more of a a threat in the air as sammy doesnt get himself in there enough
I personally would never of signed murphy and believe that if he wasn't Irish he wouldn't be anywhere near parkhead

I was hoping we would be able to go over there with a clean-sheet, I was really disappointed that they scored in the first leg. We have to take the fact they are so far into their season into account though, we definitely needed time to settle. We were certainly the better team and I think we'll have to play even better over there if we are going to go through.

I don't know how much of an advantage the artificial pitch will be over there but we can come away with no excuses, if we don't go over there and finish off the job, I'll be absolutely gutted and it will be a complete disaster. The support will demand answers as to why we haven't added quality in certain areas if we don't at least get through this qualifier and rightly so.

I'm quietly confident we will be progressing but it'll be difficult.

The first goal will be massive over there, we must set up positively.

If Helsinki score first again then i can't see us going through. Playing a decent side half way through their season on artificial turf thousands of miles away doesn't fill me with any great expectation.

finland is pretty close tbh. travelling wont be an issue, its not like we're off to play some Kazakh or Chechen outfit. Only issue I can see is the plastic pitch
