Reckon he will play ElHam at right back, after resting him at weekend.
A bit concerning that once again, we go into such an important CL game with a dodgy center half pairing.

I'd rather go out playing 3-5-2 and going for it than losing 1-0 playing a defensive 4-2-3-1 formation.

I know Christie on the left isn't for everyone but I'd rather not drop any of those in the middle to accommodate Taylor. Christie's energy would be great down that side.

Ntcham and McGregor would be allowed to push on with Brown sitting behind them and I think that's our strongest defence currently.

Klimala and Ely to come off the bench to stretch then at the end.

 

Aye, I can't see him going 3-5-2 in such a massive game against a decent European outfit. They won't sit back like Killie or Dundee United did.

They'll have a go at us and if they've done their homework then they'll know we're susceptible to losing goals from cross balls into the box.

The full backs and wingers need to be on their game and shut down the balls before they come in.

We are a lot better with 4231 in Europe than domestically, I'd imagine we will see the same team as last week with a toss up between elhamed and frimpong

We are more vulnerable to the 2nd ball and not closing it down quick enough outside the box , its been our downfall many times last few years .

 

True, and a one off European game will be totally different from what we get against SPL hammer throwers.

 

Looking at their record this year 4 losses in 34 games, still think we have enough atm to take this 2-1.
Will be a patient game and nothing like the last round. Same team as that game tho for me.
Got 8 cans in for this as I drink like a fish when watching euro games at home..

I’m pretty relaxed about it.

Definitely a tough game for this stage of the comp and a bit more unpredictable given it’s a one off tie but feel like with home advantage we will win by a couple.

We are due a performance. Hope this is the one where we see it.

 

If we get by this round the draws for the 3rd round and the play offs will be done before we play the 3rd round I think.

 

It’s a bit of a catch 22 with it being a one off game.

4-2-3-1 for me is a slightly more defensive formation. In recent games it has stifled our creativity with teams managing to isolate Edouard. Our wingers tend to tuck in and a lot of emphasis is put on the fullbacks to offer width - this is where Taylor struggles when we are relying on him to be creative or go past a man.

3-5-2 is certainly more attacking. IMO Edouard players better when he has a partner, gives him more freedom to roam and someone to link with in and around the box. Full backs can push higher and there’s more players to aim at when delivering crosses and cutbacks. It does potentially leave us more exposed in the full back areas which is a risk in a one off tie but a good CDM should be able to sit back, provide cover and stop attacks as they are materialising.

4-2-3-1 is the safe bet and it’s what I think we’ll go for. With the players we have at our disposal we should be beating teams at this stage, otherwise we don’t deserve to be in the CL at all.
