Thought it was a decent enough performance. We never really got out of second gear but still won the game; how often do we say that in Europe? Disappointed with the lack of chances created and our finishing for the ones we did have, but overall we were fairly comfortable, albeit the scoreline and nerves at 1-1 may suggest otherwise. Both penalties were stonewallers.

Astana were surprisingly poor, got a bit lucky with the opportunity they were presented with for the goal, and had one decent chance in the 18 yard box all game. Other than that, they rarely threatened and IMO could've finished with fewer than 9 men with the number of fouls they gave away.

Next match is the big one. We really need to step up a gear, but we'll have time to get our fitness up to full and some players back.

This game highlighted just how poor we are as a team, and that we aren't up to CL standard

Just got in and my main thought is let's all pray for Dundalk in the draw.

Roberts going off was the big moment, without him we looked lacking any any ideas and seemed to be going backwards most of the time, thinks we're looking bleak with the only saving grace that Astana looked pish.

The penalty came from nowhere but the crowd seemed far from comfortable despite the score, the equaliser was somehow inevitable really despite how poor Astana looked.

Again we got out of jail with the winner but not kidding myself, we are not good enough and need reinforcements.

All that said I have a gut feeling we will make it through but performances like this in the groups and we will get * all points.

Best part of the night was the Green Brigade, excellent throughout even when everyone else in the place was losing the will to live

 

I don't agree. I thought we were all over them until the injury to Roberts. Before the game Rogers said they'd set up 5-4-1 and so he wanted to expose them down the flanks. Roberts' injury completely screwed our whole plan A. We had to switch Forrest to his weaker side and play McGregor as a kind of makeshift winger.

 

Fantastic scenes there Brings a tear to the eye.

Astana I will imagine would be a bitter bunch. They will slobber some * in the media next few days.

Absolutely bouncing at the end. Great atmosphere.

Got lucky though, a lot of gaps in quality tonight.

performance wasnt great though.knew the match would have been a grind though as astana are a park the bus team.
