Historically we mirror our results with Benfica, so I'd happily take a 0-0 in Lisbon.

    2007:
    Benfica 1 - 0 Celtic
    Celtic 1 - 0 Benfica

    2006:
    Celtic 3 - 0 Benfica
    Benfica 3 - 0 Celtic

    1969:
    Benfica 3 - 0 Celtic
    Celtic 3 - 0 Benfica

Ref was doing my nut in at times but that's to be expected in Europe, couldn't deal with there diving or time wasting properly. Could have gave them a penalty or gave us a penalty as well and decided not too. Fair play.

I thought, as far the Euro style goes, the referee was excellent.

I think people who were dissapointed last night need a reality check really. We were playing a team that reached the qaurters last season with 3 of our best players missing in Kayal, Ledley and Samaras.

Just finished watching the game after nightshift last night. Got to say Im pleased with the point. Not the best we have played but putting things in to perspective it is a good point. Yes we want to win every game but this is the Champions League, the best clubs in Europe, not the Ramsden Cup, we cant expect to steamroll over clubs like Queen Of the South did !!!! We have been out of the Champions League for 4 years, a young team with important players missing. The players would have felt a lot of pressure not to let the fans down in what was a fantastic atmosphere ( expect nothing else) so a point from the opening game of the Champions League is no disaster.

Exactly, this coupled with the fact that 10 of our 11 starters had never played at this level. A draw was a fair result, not an excellent result but not a terrible result either.

Very happy with the draw last night. Especially with the amount of CL debutants and 3 top players out for us. Benfica are a very good side who finished above Man Utd in the group last season. Need to be realistic.

Exactly, if we grow into this tournement I'll be very happy.

Just take a look at what happened to Man City last season to see what can happen to teams that haven't got Champions League experience and that's when several of there players have played in it before but not as a team.

Man United as well come to think of it and some of there players are extremely experienced in the Champions League. It's an exceptional tournement.

Proud of the bhoys last night but I was still a bit dissapointed because Benfica were there for the taking. Our lack of penetration and creativity is starting to worry me quite a bit. We need Stokes and Kayal back, especially Stokesy imo. But a lot of positives to take from last night. Five clean sheets in a row in Europe. Big Kelvin was brilliant. I knew there was a player there, he just needed that bit of confidence and a good run in the team. Exactly the thing Izzy needs is conficence. He wasn`t that bad, at least he tried to make things happen, but a lot of it just wasn`t coming off for him. James Forrest was terrible again, time for him to be dropped. He`s a good impact sub to bring on in the last half hour of a game

    Forster - 7
    Matthews - 7
    Lustig - 7
    Wilson - 8
    Izzy - 5
    Forrest - 4
    Brown - 10. Un - * - real \o/
    Wanyama - 8
    Mulgrew - 6
    Commons - 6
    Miku - 6

Overall, a good performance but could have been better. I think we can take them in Portugal

I am proud of the lads for last night performance you could clearly see that our players were trying very hard. A draw was probably a fair result it was a very even game and being equal to a side like Benfica can only be a positive in my opinion especialy with key players out. A negative would be that we didn't realy test the Benfica goalkeeper but then again Benfica never tested Forester much either.

It would be hard to pick one player out of that who stood out as it was a great team performance but I was very impressed with Mathews last night !
