Celtic have evidently made an offer for Mark McAllister of Dungannon Swifts. It's on the BBC website so it must be fairly accurate.

Over to you Irish bhoys, what's he like?

Dungannon Swifts have actually done quite well in the 6 counties league the last couple of years including of course reaching this seasons 6 counties cup final. Although they were very poor in the All Ireland Setanta Cup this season.

Watched a bit of the Final between Dungannon and Linfield which went into pentalies after a 2-2 draw and McAllister missed a pentaly! But GS and TB were apparently at the match. The lads scored 15 goals this season which isn't anything special considering hes playing in the Irish League!

But teams like Cardiff, Norwich and Leeds want him. Are we really stooping this low to buy a Striker?

Celtic are poised to sign teenage striker Mark McAllister from Irish League side Dungannon Swifts.
The clubs are in talks after Parkhead coaches Tommy Burns and Willie McStay watched the 19-year-old in Saturday's Irish Cup final against Linfield.

McAllister failed to score in the 2-2 draw and missed the vital spot-kick as the Swifts lost in a penalty shoot-out. Cardiff City, Norwich City and Leeds United are also linked with the player, who scored 15 goals this season.

Dungannon manager Harry Fay informed McAllister of Celtic's interest after the cup decider at Windsor Park.

"Five clubs were over looking at him in the final and one club definitely wants him," Fay told the Sunday Life.

"Obviously we're delighted for him and are determined to do what is best for him - we'll have a firm offer on the table for him on Monday.

"Mark has been unaware of what has been happening so he has some thinking to do.

"I was determined to keep things under wraps until after the cup final."

McAllister, who has been a sensation in his first season in the Irish League, would welcome a cross-channel move.

"Of course I'd be interested in progressing my career," he said.

"It would be very hard to turn down the chance of a full-time career in either England and Scotland."

    Found this Arcticle about it!

He's a bad player because he missed a cup final penalty, only scored 15 goals and only Cardiff & Norwich are our competition for his signature.

He's signing sounds like a Evander Sno style one.

Not every player signed has to be a "blue chip" one either

GS stated that he's after at least 3 major signings, doesnt mean he cant sign potentially talented players, low risk signings

No harm in bringing a young talented player to the club for a minimal fee. If he develops into a star then great, if not then we've not lost much. Very low risk and should be encouraged. No harm done.

'Strachans destroying our team' I presume you are joking either that or take your idiot opinion elsewhere. Won the league by a country mile, further in the CL than sir Martin, Cup final to look forward to against the bottom club. Jesus if thats destroying a team I'd love to see a GOOD celtic side. Probably win the EPL, CL, Africans nation, World Cup and every cup ever. Seriously this guy is clearly a prospect for the future and will probably be paid less than me for a nominal transfer fee.

OK I appreciate there are problems in midfield and upfront at the moment but it has been a LONG season which has clearly taken its toll. With the 3 major signings that Strachan suggests are coming in I have 110% faith we will improve EVEN MORE next season.

pfft tommy burns was there so do you dought that he can tell a good player from a bad player like come on we have world class scouts expacally that new guy from hibs they must see the potential.

15 goals in his first season is good might be in the ireland league but he is 19 and must have good potential.

Who was that guy in the championship we tryed to get and was 19 aswell but they said we will only sell him for 8 million +.
