Ki is pish, didn't do a thing on Sunday. Most of his goals this season have been mishits....could do with selling him as we have much better midfielders.

no he isnt pish. and no most of his goals havent been mishits. and even if they were, does it really matter? youd still take them.

Could've been either or mate, both were awful. Although I always think Hooper is likely to pop up woth a goal even when he's playing balls, Stokes is more of an amazing or bollocks type of player. Hoopers position for the second goal forced Millar into doing something.

Was a good call by Neil because it worked.

The game had already started to change when Matthews came on, as it gave us a fresh boost down the right flank as Lustig was short of fitness and had tired. Ki coming on allowed us to play everyone in the right positions, that's all. Sammy was being played down the right for a while, and he's ineffective there. Once everyone was in their usual roles we were able to play like we can, even though Ki has a shocking work rate, although his passing ability is good. That's why Ki coming on helped us, nothing that he himself added.

He is barley even a wide player and Forrest has been much better this season.

 Forrest couldn’t lace his boots and Commons has hardly played due to injury and suspension.

And yes he is a wide player, a very good one at that. There is much more to his game than the generic and predictable style of running down the wing and throwing a pointless cross into the box.

That is ultimately what Forrest is limited to.

 When both are on form there is only one winner.

Commons is much more devastating and the role he plays is much more dynamic than simply being a winger who runs aimlessly with the ball.

forrest doesnt just run aimlessly with the ball. you can always tell what he is trying to do with it, either hit the by line and put in a cross, or cut inside and take a shot. exactly what a traditional winger would do.

 Yeah, can appreciate how that would make sense in a team with Larsson, Hartson or Sutton – but not one with Hooper and Stokes.

Commons is much more effective as he’s more accustomed to bearing down on goal directly – rather than running away from it - and by taking the full-back inside he allows Izaguirre to overlap, essentially becoming the winger. So there is never a loss of function or fluidity.

Commons acts more as a supporting striker or attacker, who has the capacity to score a number of goals and create a number of goals.

The strikers benefit much more from his presence than they do Forrest. Look at most of Hooper’s goals post Jan last season and see how many Commons had a hand in (either by directly assisting) or playing some contributory role within the passage of play.

We saw this combination work brilliantly last season. Unfortunately we haven’t seen it much this season, which is probably why we’ve been so predictable and less-threatening whilst attacking.

yes i think commons is better in terms of link up play with the front two than forrest is. but they are two different types of winger, forrest the more traditional type and commons the more modern kind.

but forrests sheer pace means he is going to create and get into positions that others just cant.

Take Sunday for example, the second goal.

Commons wins the ball, then looks up, sees Samaras at the other end of the field, delivers a pin-point diagonal ball; Samaras takes it under control and then forces the goal.

What would Forrest have done in that situation? More than likely he’d have put the head down and ran the ball out of play.

The guy has no brain and no vision. I don’t think pace makes up for that, I regard him as very similar to Theo Walcott at Arsenal. I realise some people like those type of players, but not me.

 We should always be about link-up play. I don’t think an out and out winger serves any kind of real purpose at Celtic.

I think if crosses that come from byline need to be provided, then they now come from the modern full-back.

Hooper has been poor for weeks at least stokes looks like he's making a effort.To be honest hooper looks like he's bored and would rather be elsewhere maybe Southampton is looking like a nice option for him.

well firstly it was ki that took it under control and gave it to samaras, but thats irrelevant here.

one thing that you have to bear in mind, forrest is considerably younger than commons is. commons has a wealth of experience that he can draw upon in situations. forrest has none of that and can only do what he thinks might work, not what he knows through being in that situation before.

commons is at his peak right now whilst forrest will continue to improve for a few years yet.

Commons is less a team player and looses possession far to easily especially when he drifts into the middle.Forest tends to be more the team player and the modern footballer and will be more of a footballer than commons will ever be.

Are we talking about the same Forrest? Forrest can run towards goal, score goals, set-up goals. The lad is class.
I love Commons too but I think Forrest is just as good with much more potential.

completely disagree with that statment, Forrest is a far more intelligent passer of the ball than commons. I agree with you that he isn't as good of a crosser of the ball but he is a far better overall passer and makes much better runs than commons does. Forrest isn't simply an out and out winger, some of his best games for us (udinese away, Killie second half) have come when he was played behind the striker.

 Utterly ridiculous, he certainly is not.

The ball Commons made for Stokes at Aberdeen, is exactly the type of ball Forrest is incapable of making.

That's where Lennon has played him a good few times this season; behind the striker, sort of free role. He bossed the second half in THAT Killie (with Stokes of course too). This season Forrest has proved that he is more than just pace over 5 yards. Started cutting inside more often and linking up play.
