.......and whatthefuck happened to financial fair play???

Has Platini got blinkers on that one?

Clubs down south spending so many hundreds of millions we are nearly talking in terms of billions ( fractions of anyway)

    What's fair play about it?

That's very true and it's a point I keep forgetting about. The annoyance about the lack of investment in good players is totally legitimate but you are also absolutely correct, we do outspend Legia Warsaw, Maribor and Malmo. So money alone can't be used as an excuse for those failures. It would appear that not only do we not spend enough but what we do spend we do not spend wisely.

    *, now I'm even more depressed. :smiley-laughing002:

Investing to achieve participation in the champions league surely has far greater benefits than not.

We can survive without CL participation but we regress on several fronts.

Fan base diminishes through lack of quality players.

Signing quality players increases chance to participate in CL.

CL participation increases fan base. Sell outs. Friends/Family attachment to attending games.

Coefficient increase at club and national level in CL.

Global exposure as a club increase revenue in the CL.

Celtic players provided with sterner challenge increasing development and global exposure which in turn drives up value of players.

Exposure increase player interest in joining Celtic.

CL participation is minimum £20m revenue.

    The negatives? Diminish/remove the above.

Are there any upcoming youth strikers ready to be promoted to the first team?

Dunno if this has already been posted elsewhere but...

    From BBC.co.uk

Celtic: Steven Fletcher deadline day loan move stalled

Celtic failed to sign Sunderland and Scotland striker Steven Fletcher on loan before the transfer window closed, BBC Scotland has learned.

The Scottish Premiership champions made their attempt hours ahead of the window closing on 1 September.

We understand the player was willing to join Celtic but Sunderland refused to allow the move to go ahead.

Sunderland signed Fletcher, 28, from Wolves in August 2012 for an initial fee of £12m.

Wages, transfer fees and expenditure into our coaches/facilities.

Money being spent is enough to get into the CL, we just aren't utilising it well enough.

It's interesting to note that we had more or less signed Steven Fletcher on loan, only for Big * to put a stop to it.

Had we got Fletch, I imagine we all would have felt differently about how the board did in the window.
