I could only imagine this being a success somewhere on the East Coast of the USA.

    Probably Boston.

The voice of reason ladies and gentlemen. Just shut all those Celtic supporters club's down..

Don't worry about the west coast, only a small band of uninterested expat grandkids on the east coast wouldn't know Celtic if they were related to brother Walfrid..

There's crowds to be tapped into in America. Particularly a strong Irish/Scottish feeling, it is a growing market.

It could be beneficial if done correctly.

Funnily enough I'm in America right now and have lost count of the times people have told me they adore the Scots, have distant relatives or origins there. or walked past an Irish boozer dotted with Celtic tops.

This isn't my reasons for saying it would work BTW but any Celtic fan who wouldn't at least an idea to be explored, well step forward the usual Rocket Crew.

We could also establish a WWF wrestling franchise with the same goals. I cant believe you are entertaining this as a possibility. Think back to floating pitches this jumps the shark far more than that.

No, it doesn't. It's not a promise, it's not a distraction. It's something other teams are doing and it might be a possiblity to be a good thing for us. Hence being talked about.

    It's nothing like Moonbeams.

I'd like it to happen. We could sign Ronaldinho and then loan him to us during the American break.

Boston Celtic United Superstars Rollercoaster Cowboys FC.

I can't believe anyone would think this is a bad idea, there is a lot more money in the NASL than in Scottish football which would make the American club more profitable, that could mean more money for the original club to spend on players. There is also the fact of using them as a feeder club and since they would be owned by us we won't really be paying for players who could essentially make us better as a club.

Also if you have ever been to the States you would know how many Irish bars there is.

It seems that those who dislike the board and those who moan the most about RD are against this also , is there anything that makes them happy :39:

Word of caution on it - it would take a lot of investment to even have a chance of being remotely successful. Not saying that it's a bad idea, but people should be aware of the fact that it's a business proposition, not a guarantee of furthering the Celtic brand and increasing our income. It could go * up, much like any other investment.

One thing that I mentioned before is the difficulty we face in attracting a young fan base here in Scotland because of the lure of the Premiership and the glitz and glamour of Sky. It will be far harder to do so in the USA than it will be in Scotland imo.

I don't know how a deal like this is typically structured so can't comment on it much further - there's simply no detail at this stage other than a very tenious link. Would the USA club fall under the Celtic plc jurisdiction, or would they be setup as separate holding company? Will we be liable for start up costs and in the case it fails, would we be liable for losses incurred by the USA franchise?

Not reasons in themselves to say no to this idea, but enough to give the 'guaranteed money spinner' view some balance imo.

Why should we pump more money into a team that continually gets spanked by teams that cost less to assemble?
