This is the single most exciting thing I've heard Celtic come out with in a very long time. It would be absolutely brilliant for the Celtic brand to be playing in the USA.

They really must do this, this will save Celtic. We are the proud Irish-Scots community. I can't express any more how much I want this to happen!

I don't see how this would really benefit Celtic to be honest. I think it's fair to say that these so called feeder MLS teams are not sending players to the EPL. If anything this is more of a brand thing than anything else.

Sounds an idea that is well worth looking into if it can increase brand awareness, revenue etc etc but I see a few are keen to shoot it to * bits already as soon as it mentioned.

"Increase global brand? Nah * that, sounds *" Well done lads, nothing if not consistent :bbpd:

Love this idea. It would be great for the club and will surely increase our revenue.
It will generate more interest in the team / brand, sell more shirts overseas, attract TV deals from America and Asia. And a chance, however slight, of picking up a decent player or two from these clubs.

It would be an instant success in the US. Every American you meet is some % Irish or Scottish and they would love to latch on to a club of their "roots". Look at the Boston Celtics in basketball for example, huge support among the Irish community in America.

Personally, I'd love for them to set up a franchise club here in Japan. I reckon it would attract a lot of supporters. People are still aware of and fond of Celtic since the Nakamura days but the younger generations know * all about us. This would send our profile through the roof...and Japanese people love to spend money on jerseys and merchandise.
I'm sure the same could be said for China, Korea or anywhere else in Asia, even Australia.

Would be interesting, although I don't particularly like the whole colonization of Football Clubs thing. Not to mention I wouldn't be able to abandon my local side. That being said the game is growing rapidly here so if we could tap into the market it wouldn't hurt. For now I think we should be focusing on the club and improving the many flaws we currently have.

    Good idea about Japan.
Maybe get Naka to help promote it.

Everyone is talking about the NASL being a minor league compared to the MLS but the average wage in the contract is 1 mil a season to essentially play football from April to June then a month break and start playing again from July to November the highest earners in the league will dwarf Broonys wage

You need to understand Roy, this is a * idea because Ambrose keeps making mistakes in defence, and nothing else should be done while that's happening otherwise our board will be arseholes.

However, in 10 years time when it turns out we should've done something like this to grow the club, our board will be arseholes for not doing it. :50:

I live in Vietnam and have traveled all over south eats asia.... all i see is epl shirts on kids, barca and real, and the off BM shirt.

I net one boy in 3 years wearing a celtic shirt and i hugged him and went mad... he told me he found it in an empty suitcase.

FACT: we dont have the multi million television market to promote celtic... why would some foreign * watch Celtic and Aberdeen when theyre being pummelled over the head with epl "glamour" and la liga " beauty".

This just smacks of our attempts at turning that Mexican outfit into a feeder, which to this day has yielded... sweet * all.

Floating pitches and casinos. Just a distraction we dont need.

Aye, it's a great idea to use David Murray's delusional moonbeams when trying to discredit an idea which is actually being implemented for other teams in reality.

And of course, the idea that there's a lot of Americans with Scots / Irish roots (and immensely proud of them) can just be kicked to the kerb too, y'know, because hey we've got the defence to sort out for * hearts this week.

We know we live in a footballing backwater with no money floating about (or teams to better our co-efficient) but hey, let's just accept that because we are stoic Scots and we don't need any of your stupid * IDEAS thanks you very * much.

Some our fans are absolutely astounding.

This idea should be resisted with every fiber of our being. It is not true anyway its just a moonbeam to distract the gullible but if it was true we would be selling the soul of the club. We are not McDonalds we are a football club.

Im in turn astounded that some of our supporters believe that "Irish or Scots Americans" are sitting with their thumbs up their * waiting on the white knight of Glasgow Celtic to come and give them an identity in the "soccer game" world.
Or that the east coast of the USA is made up of Irish/scot expats.

Have you ever been to the USA?

Do you know any naturalised Irish or Scots in the US?

They dont give a * about Ireland or Scotland and they certainly dont give a * about "soccer".

Yes theres money in the MLS but that mostly comes from Latino support and influence.

If a venture like this was even plausible dont you think teams from the serie A (with far more clout than us) would have done it, given the masses of italian americans?

    or are we special?

We seem to get big enough crowds in America mate.

    Could work.
