Celtic looking to grow global brand with a franchise in America and possibly Asia..

Listening to Sportsound just now and apparently that is the talk. It's for the league below the Mls as it will be expanding from 11 to 20 team's..

A chance to break through over there, as it's growing massively and we already have a big support in North America. Player wise it could be good as that is also improving heavily..

I'm sure our supporters over that way would find that more interesting than some of us but a possible clever move. Discuss?

 

I think it would be a great idea to have a Celtic (America) be a part of an extended MLS. the question is whether it would form part of a group under a holding company or be a separate enterprise with distinct close links and relationships and agreements. How one would fund it and who is responsible if it goes * up would all be valid points to raise.

 

Without immediately dismissing the idea, as that was my first reaction, it would be useful if we could use it as some sort of feeder club to get good talent available in other locations. If they can structure it in such a way that it garners extra revenue for the main club then I'd be all for it.

 

Sounds like floating pitches and casinos. Just sort the * team out and ram the pie in the sky

 

instead of pumping money into a ''Celtic 2.0'' maybe the board should consider pumping money into Celtic ''the original'' in order to give us a chance to compete in CL football.
but on the other hand, if the plan is for Ronny and his merry band to go over the pond and coach this new Celtic 2.0 club in some alligator infested backwater swamp then i'm all for it. give them as much money as they need.

 

We can't even run one club properly never mind two.

If we had money for this I would rather it was invested in our own * team.

Where are we getting the money to do this?

It's not like we've been flush with the cash in recent times. I'd rather they invest in the current squad, one absolutely lacking in every area of the pitch.

This, maybe DD would be able to initially fund it, depending on the league/company rules out there. No doubt they will be able to isolate any debts from 'Us' should that become a problem.

 

Assuming the money comes from elsewhere and does not initially hinder us, then go for it. Plenty of potential and development.

I'm sure a similar appointed board over there will enjoy * over a whole other set of supporters and fleecing money from them in our name.

Brilliant idea, for me. How cool would that be, supporting a team in the U.S. and it would be really good financially and in terms of our brand, as it were.

And ironically enough, if we did drop Deila as our first team coach I think a position like this would be perfect for both parties... i know the op meant it sarcastically, but I think it'd be good...

 

It's daft to knock back a great opportunity just because you're upset at this season performances.

This should absolutely be done. Imagine if the MLS took off and CELTIC holding company had a club in it. If managed correctly from a business point of view (and like it or not, we do that exceptionally well) it's a great idea.

As a simple example, if the MLS side could deliver consistent guaranteed cash flow and increasing profits, the holding company could loan some of that cash to the Scottish side in seasons like this season. That's something everyone is crying out for, but the board won't go into debt with a bank anymore.
