I’m actually struggling to keep any love/like/desire for football at the moment...

This whole crisis has shown a lot of world football to be what we’ve known for years... except now they are exposed and can’t hide the greed and corruption, or are prepared to betray it to us to get their own way.

Uefa clearly only concerns itself with its tv and advertising incomes and in preserving its ‘big league cartel’.

You have the EPL quite happy to climb up its own * and make token gestures while emphasising the importance of (surprise surprise) billion pound contracts.

The EPL players clearly don’t think that they deserve any cuts or deferrals while the support staff take a hit or delay. Their union should be ashamed of itself as should every single player whining about possible cuts.
Rooney should be put in a box to keep his ugly mouth and face out the way and thrown into the Mersey.

Meanwhile you have clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham utilising government help yet openly discussing possible multi million pound player purchases in the summer.

It all just too disgusting right now...

    Then you have this *!

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52197014

A self serving corrupt cabal at the very pinnacle of world football taking huge bungs and bribes.... making bungs and bribes to influence World Cup votes and gawd knows what else.

if CV19 could bring an end to the SFA, uefa, fifa and the epl then at least there’d be something to credit it with come the time.

Anybody who contributes to the epl via tv subscriptions really needs to think about what they are paying into.

Nations should be looking at the ethics of even participation in Qatar qualifiers... never mind attending.

Football needs a complete reset or it will never change.

I see newco rangers have deferred their players wages by 50% (it will be interesting to see if they attempt to squirm out of repaying these 'deferred' wages in the coming months) There's no doubt they will be struggling badly with the money they are losing due to no income BUT we are not doing ourselves any favours if we flex our financial muscles and continue to pay the players full wages. In fact it would be utter stupidity, we are in a very good financial position at the moment, we need to keep it that way. No awards will be handed out for paying our players full wages while others clubs prudently save money through wage cuts/deferrals. I hope to see us follow suit in the very near future.

You don't save money by deferring salaries, the * just hits the fan at a later date. Players also have to agree to take a pay cut, you can't enforce it. Also you say no awards will be handed out, but trophies will be won with players who are happy to stay.

I’ve said before the quicker all these so called super clubs * off to play in their own competition the better, just leave the rest of us to get on with playing in Europe on an even keel.

My guess what will happen to the higher wage earners in there will be they will be sold on the cheap whenever the transfer window does open and those deferred wages will never be paid by the zombies. Whoever buys them will have to eat that as part of any deal.

SPFL chiefs will hold talks on Wednesday after postponing Tuesday's scheduled board meeting.

League organisers were meant to hold conference call discussions to thrash out a way forward for Scottish football amid the Coronavirus crisis

But they'll now discuss their options tomorrow before making recommendations to clubs later in the afternoon.

Chairmen and owners are hoping to be given a firm idea of whether the football season will be resumed or not.

FIFA's plans to alter the transfer window and allow for the extension of player contracts could be key to that idea.

If it's decided that's unrealistic then current standings could be ruled final meaning Celtic would be declared champions with Hearts relegated.

Some form of league reconstruction is also on the table with the SPFL board hoping to move things forward in the next 24 hour

time for the smallest clubs that are barely surviving to amalgamate with others, maybe we could regionalise clubs in scotland to make them bigger and more capable and at the same time make the scottish league stronger instead of these wee clubs limping on year after year

So you're saying you want us to continue to pay the players full wages?

This is something that I've been arguing the case for, among other things, for a long time, on this site and elsewhere. Genuine league reconstruction and make some fundamental changes to the structure of Scottish Football, including a move to summer football. This is not an easy task and will be a bitter pill to swallow for some, but for the long term health and sustainability of the game, it needs to be done, and as has been seen in other countries, in football as well as in other sports, this can be achieved and has been proven to be successful.

As I once put it publically, the SFA's policy of putting short term badging to paper over long term problems and cracks is no longer working.

Change is needed and it needs to be done comprehensively, from top to bottom. From the grassroots level and how youngsters are trained, encouraged and taught how to think about the game, all the way to the corridors of power at Hampden, the professional game as a whole and even the national team. Anything less is simply an exercise in cosmetics and an ineffective plaster over a festering sore.

To save rewriting all of the reasons why, and how this can be achieved, here are some previous positions etc that I've made on this forum to this point, so as to not enirely derail this thread, which is primarily about UEFA, rather than Scottish Football governance and restructural issues.

    Scottish Football League Reconstruction

Arguement made against those who want to resist league reconstruction

Oh, believe me, that is the top of the hitlist of what needs to happen. The structure that we have in place, with the committees etc predates the existence of Celtic as a football club. It dates back to the 19th century, when the game was being run as an * sport and is seriously antiquated. Despite promises to modernize and increase transperancy, fundamentally it is not all that different, and completely out of date and out of touch for the purpose that it supposedly exists to serve.

Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino – whose club shares owners with Watford – revealed this evening that “the Premier League is about to announce its season is over.”

The comment came after Belgium’s Jupiler League declared it would not resume following the coronavirus pandemic, although Club Brugge had already been crowned champions anyway.

“The Belgian Federation has already sanctioned the end of their league, despite the threats of sanctions from UEFA,” Marino told Sportitalia.

“In England, the Premier League is about to release a similar statement, because the situation there is becoming very, very serious. I frankly just hope we can enjoy football again after the coronavirus.

“It doesn’t matter how long it takes, we need to get out of this danger zone. I am worried for the next seasons, not the old one.”

Udinese and Watford are both owned by the Pozzo family and are very strongly linked, repeatedly exchanging players on loan or permanent transfers.

If Marino claims the Premier League is ready to announce the 2019-20 season is over, he would have more knowledge of that than anyone else in Italy.
