Assuming (unlikely IMO) no attempt has been made to estimate unreported cases and take them into account, that would mean the real mortality rate for influenza would be even lower than current estimates.

So that would weaken rather than strengthen Paul McAuley's argument.

Yes, the current mortality rate is based on mostly quite advanced countries with advanced medical care. If this thing hits the developing world, which it probably will, the results could be very bad there.

Also, as you correctly observe, here if medical services are overwhelmed.

Yes it would obviously lower the current estimate, I never argued to the contrary . It's just a known fact that you can't accurately estimate the influenza mortality rate for the reason I outlined.

A mortality rate of 2% means 2% across the board on average - young, old, rich, poor etc.

It’s lower for young, healthy people and higher for old, unhealthy people, but the 2% figure already accounts for an average of ALL of those factors.

Not humour just the standard way of responding in the west of scotland to something serious that you have no control over.

Feel sorry for Gerrard tho. A virus is a bigger threat to 10iar than his team.

With people allowed to travel into infected zones there is zero chance of stopping the spread. I litterely just had a woman in from Italy saying if she gets sick shes not going to the doctor so they dont "lock her up" shes got things to do... I made sure I used detol wipes down all fingers, and rubbed alcohol gel on my hands followed by antibacterial hand wash in soapy warm water :56: shes no getting me the cow.

And even now I dont feel safe enough to pick my nose. * boot. It's a right good jaggy one needing out aswel.

It’s clearly not been thought through has it. Players travelling together , changing rooms etc Full 90mins of fitba but the SFA have it under control with this suggestion.
    Madness what a farce.

NL: on Corinavirus: “We have briefings every morning. We have to protect the players as much as we can.”

Go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint until this all blows over. And in the mean time. Shut down Ibrox. Don't want those infected zombies roaming all congregating in the city.
