Celtic 4 - 0 Raith

MJ needs to avoid any more injuries. He is at a crossroads in his career at present.

However these injuries will keep happening to him if he does not change his mindset in the way he plays.

The game is evolving at Celtic and he needs to do so accordingly. He needs to play smart and drop his bad habits. He needs to keep defenders guessing. In this game two players boxed him in on the line each time he went left and he kept the ball too long trying to get past them and would lose it. They knew how he would play.

He needs to use his speed off the ball rather than on it. The ball will travel quicker than he can run, so he needs to be playing first/second time balls and looking for players in space and keeping it simple while making space himself for the return ball. His ball skills can be used accordingly given his situation.

This will allow him to get in scoring positions also , as well as providing assists. He can't keep getting bad knocks each time he plays.

I wrote this after reading what Hart had to say about him in a positive way to the Celtic Star.

My comments above were based on observations of watching the great Spanish winger Gento play decades ago. He was a legend at Real Madrid and has now passed away. He was very skilful and very fast but also very clever and defenders never knew what he was going to do because he had variety in his game. He kept it simple, chose when to release the ball, and was rarely tackled for the ball because he would not put himself in that type of a situation.

Welsh and Scales not having the gumption to play the forward ball and chose to play it back. Ralston holding onto the ball too long and getting closed down, when he should of had quickness of mind and passed forward to Bitton in good space.
Hatate (in particular) and Rogic were spitting chips that they were not given enough service out there time and again.
Looks like they'd better learn fast because Ange's shopping list for next season has just grown to three.

 

Ralston played himself in to a three year contract thanks to a great few months, he's not getting replaced as second choice right back because of one bad game Scales is a project, he came form the LOI only having recently started playing left back and has already chipped in with a few goals and assists in limited appearances, Welsh was poor first half but thought he was much better second half.

 

Really looking forward to this coming game. Two good footballing sides coming together, with two good managers.

Based on how they played Roma home and away, they look like a good footballing outfit. Have not watched their other games yet in this same competition.

I believe Bodo will come at us and we will go at them, so it will make for a great night of football. We must not leave it late to score. We need to score early and have a minimum of three goals distance from them if not more. They will be hard to play at home, given the climate, their synthetic pitch and their playing style.

 

Never realised raith beat roma tbh. I predict we will beat them 4-0 after a slow start.
