this is from this morning on SKY

Talks between Rafa Benitez and Newcastle have carried over into today - and dialogue is expected to continue over the next 48 hours, report Sky sources.

The Spaniard sat down with Newcastle bosses in a London yesterday, in a bid to thrash out a new contract.

His current £5m-a-year deal ends on June 30.

BY appointing the snake Celtic upped the managerial bar with proven success, albiet * in Europe, so I dont think lenny will be offered the job as we need to make a huge statementof intent and build momentum for 10IAR and substantial European progress, that why I dont think lenny, much as I really like the guy, will provide the required statement of intent / fear factor . But Id take lenny over Moyes any time............Moyes is no statement of intent

A spanish sports reporter on rafa:

The future of Rafa Benítez still does not materialize as it has not yet reached an agreement with Newcastle United to prolong more time at St James Park. The Madrid born since 2016 in the bench of the 'magpies' and got the long-awaited promotion to the Premier League that both pursued and this year has signed his stay in the top category of English football so the club wants to continue counting on him more beyond June 30, the date on which his current contract expires.

As revealed 'Sky Sports', the club and coach from Madrid were meeting today for several hours but still not reach an agreement, so next week will again have a talk to bring positions. The technician's intention is to continue in the English team, but he wants the club to give him more decision-making power in the signings of the next summers and above all that he commits to reinforce the staff consciously to try to enter European competitions next year . Benitez has offers from several clubs on the table, but will not decide anything until the negotiations with his current club.

Maybe he should've done after a few of the embarrassing European performances.

People always take the managers side in these things. Thinking the players are pampered prima donna's. But imagine you're trying your best at work, and your manager starts shouting at you. I can only speak for myself, but I won't take that *.

“Look PSG are a side full of beautiful human beings, just go out and admire how they move the ball” Brendan ‘ratboy’ Rodgers.

Given how defeatist he was in pre-match interviews that wouldn't surprise me.

Lennon twice failed to secure European group stage football of any description. The highs were higher under Lennon, but the lows were lower.

I don't attribute it to the players not trying. That's a lazy excuse. There's multiple examples of this Celtic team's inability to deal with a high press. If you press the ball and mark our midfield, we're *. The movement in front of our defence is our main problem, as well as having defenders who panic on the ball when there's no obvious pass on. Unless teams drop off we're stuck in our own half.

The players don't need shouted at, they need replaced.

And only got into Europa one season because Sion had a mad drug and booze bender and forgot they had 5 ineligible players.

Fed up about hearing how Lennon's record is so much better, he had a utterly honking final campaign and 1 result that in fairness was nothing short of pure magical.
