Nope, causing the goal would mean he made a mistake ie an unforced error, he failed to prevent the goal like the entire team did, late runner to the box he tried to cover and failed that is not causing.

 

It's his job to prevent the goal and that's just a rewording of what I said.

It was also Starfelt who knee'd Morelos in the back to give away a needless free kick, that led to the corner they scored from.

 

Obviously touched a nerve. Just apologise & concentrate on the one you might win, against Minty.

So... There was a goal, that came from bad defense, that came from a corner, that came from the play, that came from a free kick, that came from Starfelt fouling Morelos? Christ man, you don't half play the long game in your blame distribution...

 

Some people have just fingered him as a whipping boy and found the most convoluted way to blame him for the goal. It’s very hard to win a header against a runner who has the momentum, the way to stop is to slow them down and guard their run away from the ball, this should have been someone else’s job if Startfelt and Welsh are both marking Goldson and Balogun, poor communication for sure not to shout about Helander being free.

 

Giving away the free kick in a dangerous position is worthy of criticism. It's two errors in the space of a couple of minutes from the same player, one thing led to another.

For what it's worth he did good things in the match too, but like the away leg against AZ Alkmaar, he cost us a goal imo. I'd like to see him improve his performances and I'm clearly not the only one who's concerned about him.

 

He gives me the fear numerous times during a match. Needs to mprove but early days so a bit of leeway given.

Came off the bench yesterday, along with Larson's loon.

 

There is a player in there but he really has to get the basics right. He also looks a bit slow to spot danger..

Maybe someone like CCV around him can help. Maybe a new team and a new system means we are not seeing him at his best.

For the money paid he hasn't exactly inspired confidence but it's early and I hope he comes good pretty soon.

 

It was Welsh who caused the goal if you look at the whole game he's picking helander up at set pieces and if you look at the goal Welsh wasn't picking anybody up and it was his man who scored and he was standing just outside the penalty box no one marking him .
