I think he will mature into a decent squad player in the SPL for us. Im not sure he will be the kind of player that will have us competing against the best in Europe. The same can be said about Bitton and Armstrong. Of the 3 Bitton probably has the most potential.

He wasn't even poor though apart from the backpass incident, that's what I don't get. He played a key part in a fluent 2nd half attacking performance.

The problem is that he plays too deep.

He'd be ideal sitting behind the 2 strikers but playing him at CM is a big no for me.

    He can't defend.

Think he would be suited in a 3 man central midfield with a defensive midfielder like Wanyama.

When you read comments like that you understand how we have people in our support that think hanging * dolls off the stand is a fairly normal idea. :smiley-laughing002:

Thats a good shout actually. He wont be better than Rogic in this position though.

    Total BS.

Real potential to have a career at Aberdeen perhaps, but no us.

And he's not a better option than Bitton that's plain nonsense.

Compare McGregors and Bittons CM performances in the CL qualifiers. Night and day Bitton brought a lot more to the table in those games over McGregor.

    Or Commons or arguably Christie.

I think McGregor is a good player but I don't think he's a DM. Mind you Bitton is so inconsistent I'm not sure I would have him every time over McGregor. I just prefer to see McGregor further forward where his direct play can cause some damage. I like him, definitely a good squad player for us.

What are his goals/assists stats like compared to the rest of the midfielders? I bet they're not bad.

Whatever happened to Commons? Didn't think we'd never see him again seeing as how influencial he can be.

i think hes an excellent player/prospect, i think if he got to play a few seasons in the english championship regularly playing he could come back and be a regular for us, he's in my opinion missing regular games and experience to take his game to another level

the thing is we are a club that has to win all the time and there is no room for a player to learn his trade especially in midfield

thats what i would have in mind for him, loan him to a club in the championship or league 1 down south, he could do with building his upper body strength as well

Excellent prospect? Come on mate. There's nothing excellent about him. He's a decent wee player who is quite tidy and gets the odd goal. Look at some of the midfielders we've had recently - Ledley, Kayal, Wanyama and Ki. He's nowhere near their ability. For me he's an Aberdeen or Hearts player, not a Celtic player.

He's already 23, loaning him for a few seasons would make little sense. Better off just selling him and signing someone who is actually going to improve us.

To be fair he isnt that young anymore, he wont want to go on loan.

If he goes it will be permanent.

Good option to have in the squad, and I like that he's a homegrown player.
