Exactly, a kind of non playing captain, getting some game time when we were trying to see out games. Not playing 3 full games in 8 days.
Anyway, great to see CMcG back to his best and embracing the armband.

Broony was quite good after Christmas, when his only job was to anchor the bottom of the diamond. Might be because he was the only * with a defined position, Turnbull as well.

Everybody else was just confused and probably in shock that apparently Everton wanted £10m for Jonjoe * Kenny.

Took the easy option all game long. So many backwards passes instead of turning and looking for a forward pass.

    So frustrating to watch.

Need to dig him out of the DM hole as that’s now two games in a row vs decent opponents where he’s ended up totally isolated in that position. Simply can’t play all of Turnbull, McGregor Christie and Rogic at once; can’t even play 3 together unless Christie is put at LW. Need to pick two and have done with it.

We have to get McCarthy fit, develop Shaw or Soro into a decent backup DM, and go with 1 of those 3 in every game. We will waste our captain in big games otherwise. Felt for him today.

I think he did well, i just think he needed someone else in the middle of the park to show a bit of quality and help him out a little.

He carried the ball well and then at times we were so wasteful and its coming right back at us. He cant do it all himself.

That’s because he was played too deep.

I reckoned he was awesome first half, ran the show. Team seemed to loose shape second half.

He can still turn and look forward from deep.

Constantly passing the buck to the defenders and Hart is so frustrating to watch.

It's * we need to play him deep because its games like this we need him and Christie in the centre rather than Turnbull and Rogic.

When we are playing teams similar to us like the huns, Alkmaar and that we need McGregor as an attacking player because hes got the pace and legs to get forward and back. When we play Rogic and Turnbull we weaken our defence and attack because they can't break forward as fast or get back as quick to defend.

We have needed a proper sitting midfielder for about 3 year, preferably a big unit.

Good first half, shades of last season with the second. He did have a tough job in there though. He still needs a beast beside him for these types of games. He's too powderpuff defensively.

Thought he was great, best player for us , I noticed in 2nd half he was other people's positions , trying too hard unlike some others.

Didn't have enough support to do what he does well, move the ball forwards into open positions, didn't think he had a particularly good game in all honesty. Needed more support and movement from Turbull and Christie.

He did alright, but he’s never a player who will drag us to victory.

Just needed more help around, as someone said, a beast beside him. Its something we badly need, especially against half decent sides. Same Thursday night. All fine and good going with a silky midfield against dross sides, but huns and away Europeans, need more dig.

Out of the game tomorrow night with “a knock.”

Huge loss. It’s absolutely mental that we have fans who genuinely argue that our squad is anywhere near deep enough.
