Dortmund have a number of players who are nowhere near good enough.

Hummels, Meunier, Can, Wolf and Schulz. Malen has been a complete flop as well so far.

Biggest mistake they made was getting rid of Tuchel. He got them their highest ever points total and a trophy, but Watzke’s ego wouldn’t allow him to take centre stage. The team that lost to Liverpool was a better side than the one that went to the CL final under Klopp.

They’re one of the best run clubs in Europe financially but constantly make boneheaded decisions and constantly fail to upgrade that defence. And it’s because of Watzke and his insistence that he gets involved with absolutely everything.

 

Scary when you list it like that. They're miles off it, and gonna be a whole lot worse when Reus and Haaland especially aren't there.

It isn’t as controversial as it sounds. Klopp’s title winning teams were fantastic, but Bayern were in a down period and those back-to-back wins woke them up. The 2013 team was a great side too but Bayern won the league that season by a country mile, although granted that team under Heynckes was the best Bayern team I’ve ever seen.

In terms of consistency and overall performances Tuchel’s side were brilliant that first season. There’s not a huge amount in it, but I’ve not seen a better team than that one. The lack of investment in the defence is ultimately what cost them.

 

Klopp’s Dortmund would utterly destroy that Tuchel team. I don’t even think it’s close.

If Gotze is fit they probably win that CL as well.

Yeah, the Götze situation was a bit of a killer. The timing of the Bayern announcement was so poor as well, and the rumours of Lewandowski wanting to leave for them had started swirling by that point as well.
